This is kind of a weird question, but does anyone know of any of the resturants down in Disney that give discounts for people who have had this procedure done?? I know up here in VA and in other states, buffet resturants will give a discount or charge for a childs meal if the customer presents a "doctors note" or special medical card proving, or stating that they had the gastric by-pass surgery. The reason for this is because a person who has this done, has the stomach the size of your thumb and can only eat 2 to 6 oz (or less) at a time. My girlfriend just had the surgery last month and we are going on a girls only (ok, with the kids while huby is out to sea) trip after fathers day and was wondering if any of the resturants honored this. Any info on the subject, or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much everyone!!!

Disney does not discount the buffet meals for adults due to medical reasons. You could probably order from the child's menu in non-buffet style restaurants however. Just give a short explanation about the dietary restrictions.

Back in September when we went with my honey's family to MK, we ate at Chef Mickey's for dinner. Becca had gastric bypass done about 4 years ago. They only charged her the child's rate since we told the CM when we booked the PS that she was going to be in our party and that she had the card from her doc. They had no problem with adjusting the bill. Anyway, she looks drop dead beautiful now. It's been weird watching this 400+ lb woman get down to a size 4. Mickey

I have a family member whos going to disney and recently just had the surgery. She was wondering what would she have to tell them in order to adjust the bill? Also what did you note on your reservations. Shes very curious as shes very shy and unwilling to talk too everyone about her surgery. Any help would be appreciated

When the PS was made, they asked how many were in the party. I explained that we needed seating for 7 and that one of those people had undergone the procedure and that we would appreciate it if she could be charged as a child since she can't eat much. They had no problem and I guess they made a note on the PS. At the restaurant when the waiter came, we explained that Becca had the card and they said she would only get charged the fee for a child. No major headache. Mickey
