I guess the moral of the story is for each party to have the convention in a state that they'll lose no mater what! Since they're going to upset the locals so much......

By the way, don't the cities bid on getting the conventions, the way they do the Olympic games?

That is my understanding. Sometimes what seems like a good idea at the time.......... heck, I am from Montreal where they are still paying off the debt from the 1976 Olympics to the best of my knowledge.
