Just thought i'd share in case anyone is still trying to book rooms for the fall special. It seems rooms have opened up in the past week from cancellations because they weren't available before. I got a room for 3 nights at POFQ.

It looks like rooms are available for my dates on hotels.com with the fall rates. It seems almost too good to be true. I have been searching for Dec. 10 - 12th at the WL. I wanted the woodsview but hotels.com is showing standard view.

I am afraid to press the "book reservation" button on the hotels.com site because for the fall rates it says that the cancellation policy is unavailable. I guess I should look for a phone number to call.

Does anyone on Disboards have experience booking Disney hotels through hotels.com? Does Disney have a record of your reservation prior to right before your check-in dates?

Ya, my dates for October (20-24) come up for the WL at 139.00 a night, but the lack of a real policy when having to cancel concerns me.

Do they charge you for the whole room charge at the time of booking on this site?

I'm not sure... I was scared to enter in my CC info and click next because I wasn't sure if it was going to charge me or what.

Maybe I'll try later and let everyone know

I actually called their number. They do charge the whole amount. It would make me nervous not knowing the cancellation party so I wont do it.

When you go through the booking process (although I didn't complete it all the way yet), there is a message on the side of the screen that says they need your credit card on file to guarantee the room and they do not charge your credit card until you check in. I guess that part seems fairly safe.

The Disney reservations seemed to be handled differently than all the other hotels on hotels.com because when you complete a search, there is also a note above the Disney hotels saying that these have to be booked online and you cannot make reservations by calling hotels.com.

I am still just curious about the reservation policy. Hotels.com also shows the rack rates and the cancellation policy looks like it is similar to Disney's (cancel before 6 days prior for a full refund but you have to pay a $5 hotels.com fee).

If the cancellation policy for the fall discount rate is the same as the rack rates, I'm going for it so that I can get the resort that I want at a good rate. I hope this avenue works for me as well as it did for the Hillbeans.

When Disney doesn't have discounted rates, also consider trying Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, the hotel booking feature on southwest.com, etc. Since they're wholesalers or work through wholesalers, they often have discounted rooms available. That was the case for us with Yacht Club in November -- got it through Expedia. Full payment is up-front, but cancellation up until a few days before arrival is only $25.

has anyone used travelocity? They have the toom and dates I am looking for but I've never used them and am a little nervous. Cancellation is 6 days so that's good. Any experience or feedback?? TIA

I tried booking through Travelocity but when I submit the reservation a message comes on the screen that says something like unable to process. : (

I think that I will go for the hotels.com since I only need to book two rooms for one night anyway.

That means that they don't have the room available for those dates. What I did was go on expedia, and check availability. Then I went on Hotels and booked it. Hotels will show availability until you go to the final step of booking and it'll tell you nothing is available. I know it's not as "clean" and easy as booking through Disney, but sometimes these wholesalers have the rooms to give where Disney shows blackouts.

I'm not sure if my CC was charged the whole amount, however for the $94 rate for 3 nights, I have no problem being charged up front than paying $250 more to get rack rate. The savings is close to 40% off what I was paing before for the same thing.

I do know they charge a $5 booking fee. Not a big deal to me since i'm saving so much more money.

I just booked the WL 10/20 to 10/24 for $139 a night.

It said I will receive a confirmation email within 2-4 hours, so I don't know if it is official or not? I took the plunge and the 'risk,' so we'll see how it works out.

Ill keep everyone posted (whether you like it or not:p)

Thanks as always everyone

Can you tell me where you booked it through? I need 10/22 - 10/25 . Thanks

I tired to use Travelocity about 6 weeks ago to book a quick getaway to the North GA. Mountains. I found a place and booked through Travelocity the morning we were to leave on our trip. They said that it could take as long as 48 hours I think to get a confirmation number. I went on the hotel/condo's home website and looked there, just for grins, they said that they were completely sold out even though Travelocity had several more rooms available. I called the hotel/condo directly, they confirmed that they were in fact overbooked. Told me that if I arrived and told them that I had booked through Travelocity they would turn me away. I called travelocity on their 800 number and explained what the hotel told me. They said that sometimes that does happen and they cancelled my ressie through them.

Renniks-

I am using hotels.com... BUT this is the response I got an hour or so after attempting to make my reservation:

I am terribly sorry, but we are unable to complete
your reservation request at this time because the
computer link is down due to the hurricane. Please
contact your selected hotel directly in order to
process a reservation or wait a day or two and then
try to book again online.

Hurricane still? Or just rooms not available? Hmmm...
I'll try again at some point I guess...and keep calling CRO.
