Just got hung up on by CM and lost ADR time

I have been calling at least twice, everyday, for the past 2 weeks to try to get an earlier ADR @ Ohana breakfast (Wed. Feb. 3- our current ADR is 10:20). Today was finally my day --- after waiting about 12 minutes on hold, I was elated when the CM told me that there was an 8:20 available :cool1: . She asked for our name, I could hear typing, and all of a sudden, I am put through to the survey they do @ the end of the call :rolleyes2

I, of course, called right back--- waited only 7 minutes this time. Only to be told that there was nothing at all available that morning, and that they were "truly sorry" for what had happend. GRRRrrrrrr, I am a little bit more than annoyed right this moment. Just thought I would come here to vent. :furious:

What a bummer! Did you lose your original ADR too??

Are you staying at the POLY? If so, you can try the concierge desk when you check in for an earlier time.

are you sure that that time wasn't given to you?
Call back and ask them to go over your ADR for you.... if she had your info...

just a thought

I feel for you....same type of thing happened to me when doing my last set of ADRs. I hope that you will get another whack at it!:) :moped:

No, luckily I didn't lose that one- I don't think. She (CM) looked for new times before pulling up my old confirmation number. I guess I should call back, yet again, just to make sure though, huh? :confused3

Nope, not staying at Poly.

I just called back, sure enough it did wipe out our original ADR as well :rolleyes2 , but now they had an opening for 10:10am. So, I guess it's at least 10 minutes earlier than we had before- still not ideal. Funny that just a few minutes ago they had "nothing" at all available though.

I swear thru all my calls with them, that either the computer system doesn't show full availability and somehow "shuffles" things around---- OR that the particular CM decides whether or not you are "worthy" of being told that something really is open.:lmao:

1) It is very possible that the CM was working from home.
2) There are lots of folks working out of their house as independents.

Just wanted to add that it is almost certain that the CM did NOT hang up on you. Why would they do that? I work from home taking calls for a social service hotline. It is possible the CM accidentally hit a button, disconnecting the call (or her from the call -sending you to the survey) or that the computer/phone somehow disconnected her from the call. I use a soft phone (via the internet, no actual phone) and this happens, while not often, occassionally. Especially if the weather is bad. Basically if I lose my internet connection, even for a second, I lose the call. It happened to me today already (working now). The person just hears nothing on the other end - but in Disney's case that may send the person right to the survey. Even if they are using a regular phone, if they are working at home, it's likely it's connected to a Remote Office Unit like I used to use (a modem-like device to hook a remote phone into the main office system to receive calls). Any bit of static (even unheard by the caller or myself) on the line, can trigger those units to throw into "Set Busy" - disconnecting the call. The units are Very sensitive to noise on the line, which, again, happens more frequently in bad weather. In fact a year ago, I had a lot of trouble and turns out it was due to BEES in the phone box up the road!!

So I just wanted to point that out. I know it's VERY frustrating, especially in situations where something may be available one minute, but not the next. But we shouldn't assume or be angry with the CM's because in almost all instances, it's likely NOT their fault either.

I bet if you showed up early you would get a table with a little bit of wait. The ADR are kind of funny in that they are not really traditional table reservations. I think you would have a good chance of getting a table pretty soon if you show up around 9 or 9:30.

I guess I should have phrased that differently- I didn't say that she hastily hung up on me; I think we have all accidentally "hung up" on someone, especially on work phone lines. I should have said I got disconnected. Either way, the call was lost, and so were both of my ADRs. That was my whole issue. Just was frustrated, and DH is sick of hearing about Disney plans, so I came here to blow off a little steam w/ other's that understand the frustrations (and joys) of planning a WDW vacation.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. We were there in December and arrived 20-25 minutes early for a character meal only to be told that they were not allowed to check us in until 10 minutes before our reservation time so we had to get out of line, and get back in it a few minutes later. I think it has to do with the way they do the rotations and fill the rooms for those type meals. However, we were also told that at one non-character table meal and had to go walk around for 10 minutes, but another table meal we did get there early, but had no problem getting in. Maybe it depends on how booked they are for that day? Others may have had better experiences with early arrivals.

I would keep trying, right up until the night before. I know it's frustrating, but people cancel or switch ADR's all of the time and something earlier than what you currently have could become available.

We showed up 30 mins early for a LeCellier ADR once. We really just wanted to sit in the a/c and told the hostess that, but they had a table opened so they seated us right away. We were shocked but very happy! That being said, I wouldn't try that with a character meal.

I'm wondering how someone would go about getting one of those jobs. That would be perfect for me!

Sorry, OP. I should probably start a new thread.

I think the same people for the web site upgraded their phone systems this weekend.

I called to make a reservation for POP for SWW. The first time I called, after going through the "yes, no, yes" crap, it told me about staying on the line for a survey after I'm done. But then, immediately afterwards, it told me to press 1 for the survey, or just hang up - and then I was disconnected. Never rang through to the CRO line. Called again, and made it through to CRO with no wait.

So the system dropping the call due to no error on the part of the CM is entirely plausible.

We had 2 ADRs on our trip last month - showed up 20 mins early for Biergarten and 30 mins early for Sci Fi Diner and were seated immediately at both places.
