Just Got Home

Here are a few things we noticed. First, the music that plays as you walk outside near Pioneer Hall IS playing (someone noted several weeks ago that it wasn't playing then). Second, the dock sign is definitely gone. Third, we went over Memorial Day weekend and it was full, but not overly packed until Sunday night. It was (and we live in Florida) HOT!

We were in loop 800. It, and the other loops we walked by, were FULL. Had some tent campers nearby that partied way into the night one night. Didn't bother us a whole lot (we're in a 37 foot motorhome), but I felt sorry for the tent campers across from us that had small children.

Golf carts were more of a problem this time as they have started allowing gas powered carts on the campground. A lot more of them, they go faster, they are loud, and many are scary reckless!!!

They no longer sale Fort Wilderness lisence plates. We were told that they are coming out with a new design. They do, however, have tire covers again. Oddly enough, last time we were there on our fifth wheel we were looking for a tire cover and they didn't have any. This time we went in our new-to-us motorhome looking for a tag - they don't have any. I think it's a conspiracy.

Howdy neighbor! We were in site 840 Thursday and Friday night. We were tent camping, but I know we weren't the noisy ones. I noticed them Friday night, and was greatful they weren't near us. They were up by the entrance and had 3 or 4 cars parked on their site??

I agree it was hot! I think I took 3 showers a day, because I just kept getting so sweaty every time I did something. I did post a trip report if you're interested.

Not to high-jack this thread but I was looking for your trip report and can't seem to find it. Is it under the " trip reports" thread ? FloridaTeacher are you going to do a trip report also once you get settled back home ?

not to be a party pooper, but if you ever are at Ft W and your fellow campers are out of control DO call the front desk. We've gone for years and unfortunately you are starting to see some inconsiderate neighbors. We were in an rv last fall in the 300 loop and could hear this one group at the other end of the loop. I heard from park peeps the next morning they got several complaints from campers and I know the park manager/security actually did kick a group out.

No, no trip report, but I did enjoy reading yours. Just wanted to post what we noticed was going on around the Fort.

We, too, have heard about more about rowdy neighbors of late, and had decided the day following the late night party that if it happened again that night we would call. Luckily they must have worn themselves out at the parks because it didn't happen again.

Did you see the new Ft. Wilderness decals? I loved 'em bought 2... one for my van and another for hubby's truck. No sooner had I put mine on~ we came home and traded in our van for a new one. My decal's gone with the old van.
Oh well, going back in Nov. will have to buy a new one!


I did buy up the reminding coffee mugs!! They were on sale because a new design is coming out. Can't wait to see what it is!!
