JUST GOT FREE DU Upgrade for 11/4/04 Cruise!!!!!

I just got home from a party and I had message on my answering machine!

It was Donna from Dreams Unlimited. She was happy to tell me that she got a call from DCL that we got a FREE upgrade from Category 8 (window) to Category 5!!!!

This is my first upgrade ever! Also, I had a guarantee of Room #7014 that I had asked for to now Room #7034.

I booked this cruise January 03. I had a credit from DU for $25 and because this free upgrade is worth more, my credit of $25 is now $50!!!!!

So I got a FREE upgrade AND I got $25 more dollars toward the cruise!

Just had to share! I'm very excited!

What a nice upgrade! We are also booked with Dreams Unlimited for the Dec. 5th cruise. This will be our 4th cruise, 1st time booking with DU.

I just can't believe it. I always read the upgrade threads wondering if I'll ever be so lucky!!

I also never thought it would happen this early on! I always thought it happened a month or two before but not six months before!

I wonder if my upgrade has anything to do with the canceled cruise on October 28?? Maybe they had to make room on my cruise for those poor folks??

Regardless of the reason, I'm very happy!

Congratulations! I was confused, too, about someone being upgraded this far out. You may have hit upon the reason with the cancelled 10/28 cruise, but I would have still expected them to wait until closer to that time to make decisions about who was where.

Does anyone know if it helps to pay in full before 60 days to get an upgrade. Because if so I'm paying tomorrow.

I don't know but just to let you know I paid off my 11/4/04 cruise back in September 2003, 14 months before the cruise!!

I still can't believe. Good, special pixie dust stuff like this never happens to me! I'm very very happy and grateful!

I'm so excited and in shock, I can't bring myself to erase the voicemail!!!

looks like i will be just passing you by - and i too got a free upgrade!!

im sailing on the wonder 11/24 - 11/27 - and then heading to disneyworld

i book cat 7 and was upgraded to 6 and got my room number!

i do believe im just about as happy as you!

and in answer to the paid in full question - i too paid the whole thing off already - wouldnt hurt you to try it!!

I wonder why they're doing these upgrades SO early on?? I always thought they were done much closer to the cruise date. Oh well, I'm not complaining!!

What are the odds of being bumped with a Cat 4 cabin to a 3? I guessing slim to none, with more likely none, one can always hope.

Yes, it's very possible! I know what you mean! I always read the upgrade threads hoping for myself to be so lucky someday and now it has finally happened!!

Does anyone know why they cancelled a cruise? And does this happen often? I would hate to be booked on one that gets cancelled.

I read it was because a company chartered the whole ship. Not that that's a good reason. I have no idea how often this happens.
