We came back from a trip last week from VWL and we loved the resort.
We watched Wishes one night from the marina followed by the Electric Water Pagent. It was very relaxing and fun, accompanied by some frogs (or maybe toads) and ducks and a bunch of people.
There were bunnies around also. We rented bikes (surrey bikes and the kiddie one) to Fort Wilderness once and rented watermouse for an hour to go around the lagoon.
Loved our dedicated 2-br on the 5th floor facing the woods. It is very private and we did not even need to draw the curtains at night. We also like OKW very much for the sheer size. but VWL offers more activities, despite significant size difference in the living room/kitchen area.
Did the lodge tour with Stan with some fun tidbits. What a nice man!!!
Missed the Duck Race in the afternoon, sounded a lot of fun. Supposedly the winner will get a free boat rental.
Also missed the kids pin trading nights.
The pool was nice and warm and fairly crowded.
Could not be the flag family because they were all taken by the time I checked in. Wonder if I can call ahead in the future before we check in to reserve for that.
We even went to the campground once for the singalong and the movie. Found out the best way to get back to Wilderness Lodge is the "orange line" bus at Fort Wilderness. In 5 minutes, we were back at the hotel (found out by accident. We took the boat over thinking we need to take the boat back, but by accident, I got on this bus going the other way and just decided not to get off until we get to the Marina. He then announced that he would stop at Wilderness Lodge before TTC, so we just stayed on, so much faster)
Ate at Trail End for dinner once and the waiter was very entertaining.
Did not eat at Whispering Canyon, but saw some people sitting there were laughing really hard for whatever the waiter did. Not sure I would want to use their catch up bottles though, it seems that they get passed in people's hands all the time : )
We will definiately stay at VWL again.
