So just got back a few days ago....8 nights at our fav place ever!!!! We go every year..Sept for the last few years... DH and I... DD 17 and 10....all Disney obsessed as me..trip planned out to everyone detail. Free dining promotion.
Resort- Riverside... preferred room. FQ was our go to resort....but is never offered during free dining.2 and time in Riverside....loved it!!! Did Alligator Bayou last time because we had 5. Booked preferred and requested building 14...got far end of 18 . Asked by chance if any royal guest rooms available. They were at almost 100% capacity. But they found me one room...on first floor...was handicapped assessable room.. in building 95. We didn't need handicapped room but we're happy for the upgrade.. was about 5 min walk from lobby to.our room....was Beautiful!!!! The pics do.not do.it justice.we had a river and courtyard view as well.. and they gave this All to me at NO extra charge!!!! I didn't love the single sink or the fact that the sink was not outside the bathroom....harder to get ready. But that was only due to the roll in shower and specific features of rhis type room. This would not have been thru case in a non handicapped room. I highly recommend these rooms!!! Or if not royal guest, just thr mansion rooms. Totally diff feel than the alligator Bayou rooms...loved the beautiful courtyards and bridges. Loved the 5 min walk every day...used main bus stop...5-6 min away...
Bus service- over the weekend , it was awful...crammed into standing room only buses. We once waited 50 min for HS bus...at 8:30. They told me they only had 2 HS buses running that day....for such a huge resort...we room a taxi...a few times...kept our receipts... explained it to guest service at front desk. They credited our account..not the tips...but the taxi ride. We were happy with that..bus situation was better in middle of the week .
France-new restaurant on this trip . We try at least one... Food was delicious... restaurant was Beautiful. Bacon salad was one of the beat things I have tasted. Waiters were not as friendly but service was ok...will definitely be back.
New rides- I loves Soarin...always been a fav...but Soarin around the word surpassed my expectations...still amazing music score.. and preshow video...but wow.... It actually made me cry, it was so beautiful!!!! Did it prob 8 times in our trip! 3rd concourse helped wait times...only 20-30 the first hour each Morn. 3rd concourse also shortened wait times for Toy Story mania... Frozen Ever after-hours it was beautiful and so well done... So sweet!!!! Ride it 3 times...the 2nd and 3rd times, Elsa was broken and not moving...kinda disappointing for a new ride...but still fun.
Other rides-why so many breaking down.???..Haunted Mansion stopped for 5-10 min at LEAST once every si file.time we rode it!!! Once there was a terrible sewage smell!!! But it was gone the next time. Spaceship earth kept breaking down also...the ride screen wouldn't work so that room some of the fun away. Also, the last time, it didn't give us an option to select language on screen, as screen seemed completely dark. So the entire narration was in French which we didn't understand. Told the Cast member when we got off , she did you have select English.. duh!! She didn't seem to believe that it was broken.
First aid- got sick riding RR Coater 2 times in a row (rider swap) and got sick beyond description! Spent 3 hours at HS first aid sleeping it off and they were wonderful... nice cots and meds...cool rags...air conditioning...it was just what I needed.
Crowds- way up this year!!! We did notice on MK party days, the mornings were NOT crowded at MK...but otherwise, so much more crowded that Sept used to be...for example, 65 min wait for Space M during EMH at 11:35 at night!!!!! And it was so hot this year!!!! Same with all the other parks.
AK nightime- not an AK fan... sometimes we skip it...but wanted night experience. My family loved Everest at night...with 5 min waits...park was not crowded at all....was there from about 5:30-8:30. Night time safari was sooooooo fun...loved it more than daytime. You still see some animals and it just has a relaxed feel to it. We noticed street performers singing to empty streets. Guess it hasn t built up large crowds yet..nightime- awakening if tree of life was nice...but not amazing..although we may not have seen it all..saw end and then beginning later. Will definitely do nightime- there again.
