just got back!! OKW 2wks

Hi Everyone. New to site, but found so much useful info here. THANKS. i Just got back from OKW (12 Days) We stayed in a one bdrm, (BLDG 56 Unit 25). First i loved the property very much. everyone was very helpful. The unit was so spacious . Me, DW, and DS (3yrs old). The washer and dryer were a godsend. The unit was in very good condition. There was some small stuff, but nothing that made my vacation lousy. There was only 1 thing tate really got me UPSET. There was alot of mildew in the unit. I had to go by cleaning solution. i did not feel comfortable till i was able to clean it myself. DISNEY should pay better attn. to this problem. Only other complaint was my unit was right next to the road. Could here buses all nite. Found the food at WDW getting alot better than it has been in the past. Still expensive, but i already knew that prior to going this time (11th trip). Whispering canyon cafe and pizzafari and cosmic rays starlight cafe cant be beat. Goood food at a fair price. I cant eat hot dogs for 2 wks straight. Went to contemporary for CB. at Chef Mickeys. WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN. go to Cape Mays for a quiter time and more time with the characters. We went to Sea World for 4 days with there anytime pass. My son liked it better than WDW cause of the animals. ALL THOSE READING THIS. You must do dinner with Shamu. Great food and kids of all ages will absolutley love it. Better than a character breakfast. Any ????? give me a yell

I see this is your first post, so first of all, WELCOME to the DIS Boards!!

Thanks for sharing your trip impressions and comments. Two weeks at this time of year....how awesome!!

I agree that the mildew thing should be addressed...and while it was good of you to clean it up it is important to bring that sort of thing to management's attention while you're there so they can improve the cleaning service and address any employee issue they might have.

GLAD YOU HAD A MAGICAL TRIP, My wife and I love OKW, we own there and always stay in a 1 BR.. We eat breakfest, in the room but go off site more for dinner. We drive to disney (live 80 miles away) and go to the restaurants on RT 192 east and west , better choices and better prices. Sea world is one of our favorites also and a short drive from disney.

Welcome to the forum. We've only stayed at OKW 1 time but we loved it and also had a great time. 12 days! WoW I'm jealous. glad you had a great time. Did you use the Disney transportation? How was it from OKW?

You must have been a close neighbor to us! We were in building 55 from Dec. 2-12. No mold in our unit though, and the tiles on the kitchen and bathroom floors appeared to have been reglazed. I noticed a glazing truck across the street at building 53 while we were there too. We LOVE South Point area, but we had the unit that was on the second floor nearest the hot tub this time, and the bamboo that shields the view of the hot tub from the villas was overgrown enough to even block a lot of our second floor view. WE had lights on our balcony the whole time too, but the were mostly only seen from the waterway when going to DTD.

Our beef this trip was that the hot tub at South Point wasn't in the best working order. For a couple of days, someone had put a bunch of sand in it, and the water level was low and cold. Then it seemed to be fine for a few days, but the last couple days they had a "closed" sign on it. Not sure why though. We only got to use it a couple of times.
