Ok...we just got back last night. WOW! What a great trip!!!! Now the question is this...what are your great tips to get us back? Disney Visa? Time share? Ebay? Kids need braces & the van needs tires but we MUST have our Disney fix if not next year then definately the year after. All ideas welcome!!! Let's hear it Disboarders!

:D

I currently save change, do Mypoints, sell on Ebay... 1/2 of the kids allowance goes into an account to purchase their hoppers & for their spending $... "found" cash - ie.. my mom always gives us small checks for holidays, we sometimes get small bonuses from work in the form of gas or restaurant gift cards... the income tax return is a big one! Also, I'm a Longaberger consultant so all my profit goes to the Disney account... I don't do a Disney Visa because I have a Subaru M/C that gives me more of a rebate towards car repairs but with that same theory I charge everything possible then pay it off at months end to accumulate extra points. Also if you have a "habit" such as purchasing coffee every morning on the way to work, I forgo that "luxury" & make a pot at home... the $ that I would have spent on that cup goes into the change jar at night. There is money everywhere when you look for it! Good luck & happy planning!!

Thank you for the tips! I find it funny that I was the skeptic on this trip and then I was the one who had tears in my eyes when we had to leave. Disney sure does a terrific job with everything. We had $20 left over from the 'change fund' that is going to be seed-money for the next trip! Thanks again!

I do surveys online, MyPoints, save my change, and we still won't get back after this trip until sometime in 2005 or 2006. We have a wedding to plan and some more bills to work on paying off so that we can get a house. But, I am really looking forward to the new rides that will be there by the time we make it back again. It stinks to know that it's going to take so long to find our way back home again, but there is more to life than Disney, or so they tell me. :happy1: Mickey

Thanks Mickeysaver! Please tell me more about the surveys online & what are MyPoints?

Yes, there is more to life than Disney...but it sure is a good departure from reality. Priorities, priorities... :)

Thank you very much!

44sun,
Welcome back from the World!

If you'd like to learn more about MyPoints and other rewards programs, checkout The DIS Rewards Board . There are a lot of friendly people there who can help you earn a few extra bucks towards another WDW trip.

Set up an automatic withdrawal with a bank account like ING. Next year when the tax tables change for inflation or you get a raise your paycheck will increase. Take this extra money and have it automatically sent to your account - Instant savings with no reduction in your current budget.

Another thing that I have done is sold my books on Amazon.com. I am a book-a-holic, but have made over $1000 since June selling over 100 of my books.

Half.com is another place to sell books, videos and DVD's.

However, an even better idea that will save you far more money over time is to not buy that stuff in the first place (or at least not buy them new).

When we want a book to read, a new cookbook to get recipes, or a reference for a one-time project, we go straight to the library. The only time we purchase a new book is when it is a reference book that we expect to refer to repeatedly over the years. For my DD who goes thru books by the dozen (she's 8), we do the library regularly. We also hit yard sales where she can buy 8-10 books for the cost of 1 new one. Then after she reads them, we'll resell them or donate them somewhere.

For DVDs, Netflix is a great option. For $20/month, you can rent an unlimited number of DVDs. Compare that to Blockbuster where you spend $4 per disc, or buying movies for $15-20 each. We've averaged about 6 movies/month since joining Netflix. We hardly ever go to the theater - we just wait a couple of months for the movie to hit video.
