Just got back...most annoying things:

It is unlikely that everyone in a group has hearing loss.

Not everyone no. Could be someone. Why do people shout at the hard of hearing? Passing judgement is ignorant IMO. Rowdy is one thing. Loud is completely different.

Since everyone loves a nitpicky thread about tiny annoyances that occur, I thought I would add mine from my previous vacation:
1. Loud people at restaurants. Holy crap, is the entire world deaf? You do not have to scream to the people sitting across the table from you. I am not even talking about the kids. I totally understand when babies cry, kids squeal with excitement or get a little too loud and rambunctious. It's called being a kid. But do grown men have to talk in the world loudest voice to the person sitting across the table from them? The whole meal? This happened at Fultons...this happened at Sanaa...

This is the OP's original post. No where does it state a rowdy group. It is written as a man speaking loudly at a person sitting across the table. Which yes hard of hearing people do, due to background noice.

Sorry I wasn't more specific. At Fulton's the man at the table next to us was very loud. At Sanaa, it was a table of loud adults.

I am 100% sure that no one involved was hearing impaired. Why? The man spoke to his entire family loudly, not just one person. And no one spoke loudly to him. And he seemed to hear everything at the table. I'd know this because I felt like we were dining with him! It got so bad that literally the minute one of us tried to talk to the other one, he would say something and you couldn't hear anything at our table. We would just laugh and try to talk to each other at a later time.
Like I said before I have a slight loss of hearing. I can't understand people when in a crowded, noisy room. But I am also aware that the people at my table are not hearing impaired and I do not need to hear my own voice. So I talk in a normal voice, I don't yell.

When people next to loud talkers can't carry on a conversation, and get sucked into listening to or unable to block out those loud talkers, when you have to ask to be MOVED away from them, or wish you could get up and leave during that experience (dining, show, ride, etc.) - something isn't right. They may have a legitimate reason for loud talking, however, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that all loud talkers aren't deaf or hard of hearing.

I'm talking about GROUPS of loud talkers, and I think most people are also talking about GROUPS. Not individual hearing impaired people.

Am I not allowed to have feelings about this? To say that I am passing judgment because I am annoyed by something? It just comes down to appropriate behavior, in a movie theater you are supposed to act a certain way, although it doesn't seem as intuitive as not talking in a theater, loud talking in general is a little rude. Like people who sleep in movie theaters, and before anyone says "they have a medical condition" - a narcoleptic doesn't belong in a movie theater if they disturb other patrons, nor is everyone who sleeps in a movie theater a narcoleptic.

You can feel how you like. I'm not here to tell you otherwise. You're entitled. Being annoyed is one thing. Passing judgement is another.

We don't agree on this and maybe you've never experienced first hand the people you are "annoyed" by as being a loved one.

I'm just glad not all people pass judgement so harshly.

As I posted earlier, for anyone with a hearing disability and their families I feel it is perfectly acceptable, they can talk as loud as they want or need to.
I believe most people agree. I would want them to have a wonderful vacation.

I'm not sure how you are 100% certain he wasn't hard of hearing because no one spoke loudly to him? Him speaking loudly to everyone in his party would make me lean towards the fact he was hard of hearing.

I speak normal to my daughter. She however speaks louder at times to me when she is having a hard time hearing us.

And again there is no possible way to know if a person is hard of hearing 100% of the time. It is not a visible impairment unless the person is aided.

So assuming your loud talkers are just being loud which annoys others is a very big assumption.

A loud group is one thing. A loud individual talker you have no way of knowing. So I'll agree to disagree here.

I never commented about a lone loud talker, my comments were about loud talkers - plural, a group, a gaggle, a posse, multiple loud talkers in the same party.

Perhaps your group is too loud that you have never noticed it. As a couple, DH and I, we talk quietly and notice when a group of people are disproportionately loud around us. Sorry if you never noticed it before for yourself. I will agree to disagree. :thumbsup2 :flower3:

Code:
It is July, in Florida. People are going to smell, even those that showered and put clean clothes on a few hours ago. ;)

Not really. But if ths is the case you need to invest in another brand o deodorant.

A group yes. One person. No. Which is what the OP was referring to and what I was referencing.

....to get back to things that annoy you....:rolleyes1

Cell Phones. Plain and simple. I get it, I do...hubs has his with him in the parks, and we have used them to find the inlaws when they go their own way, or to check wait times across the park. What drives me batty is the obnoxious people just wandering around having a regular ole conversation. (I also dislike this practice at the grocery store or big box store, etc...)

Find a place to park yer butt outta the way and have the conversation. Don't bombard me and my kid with your foul language laced rants or ra-rah's....ugh. :sad2:

Just closing down because I don't want this to be debated any longer.
Have a good day everyone.
