Just got back. MB and FP+ thoughts

People should take note when experienced Dis'ers give a quick absolute answer. They are not always right. People should be especially mindful when it comes to their predictions on matters like the whole FP+ system as well. Be careful to separate their speculation from actual FACT

Puhleeze. :rolleyes2

I think intelligent people here can tell the difference between posters who try to help others with advice and those whose entire posting history, as both UNCFanatik and as Tozer, can be accurately summed up with the single phrase "nanny nanny boo boo".

Goodnight (forever), UNCFanatik.

:thumbsup2

You must be mistaken. A long time experienced Dis'er who posts all the time to provide answers said that he has never seen a legacy FP that didnt end in a 0 or 5. Please go back and confirm.

Really? I'm looking right at it. It says 3:21 to 4:21. If you're in that much disbelief, I could always scan it, but I really don't want to go to that much trouble over this.

The poster you quoted is using large amounts of sarcasm, as is his way. He is enjoying me being wrong, to put it bluntly. I believe you, if it helps. :goodvibes

The poster in question (UNC) has made three posts today. Two of them were to slam you and the other was a shot at the "group". :dance3:

Just stating the "facts".

I'm sure your FP does end in a 1. But, like Mesaboy, I don't remember a time in recent history when a legacy FP had anything but a five minute increment. Mesa is there more than me, and I am typically there for a total of three to five weeks a year...
It's also quite possible that it was different in 2009 and I've just forgotten - it's not the sort of detail that would stick in my mind from 4 years ago. Or it could also be that they were playing around with return times on the day your FP was pulled and that it is a rare exception.

having FPs return time increments of 1 or 5 minutes does not change much

you'll always get a group of guests who will clog up the FP entrance 15 minutes before their return time, almost preventing other guests to get through. And they will invariably try to get into the FP line at 3:01 when their return is at 3:05 (and lots of CMs will not bother turning them away, even though some will :) )

But the FP+ also can create that kind of backup through another phenomenon

Let's say you get a FP+ for attraction A with a return time of 3:00 to 4:00 and attraction B with a return time of 4:00 to 5:00, chances are you'll want to get in line for A as late as possible, so that, when you exit A you can go straight away on B
Those who get to their FP+ return as late as possible will add up to those who get to their FP+ return as soon as possible.

with the legacy FP, I know I would have hit the FP return line as soon as my window opened, because that's basically when I could get another FP (most of the time) and it was rather important to be there as soon as possible.

Now, the strategy is different. Since you can schedule your FP+ you no longer need to be there at the start of your return window
and if you have A, B and C at 3, 4 and 5pm, if you do A as late as possible, B as soon as possible, and C as late as possible, it opens a window (roughly 90 minutes long) for a standby ride in between

in that respect, the 5 minutes increment do not make a difference, because guests no longer return (en masse) at the start of their return window.

(well, I probably should insert a disclaimer too :) )

I'll just say that no one can be right 100% of the time. Also, those who love to slam others from their lofty perches better hang on tight. That can be a long fall when they turn out to be wrong.

Back to the subject at hand, those odd times are weird! If people don't have the proper phones, those would seem only harder to remember.

Don't worry I believe you because I have some just like that from our trip last month. I also noticed a back up at the entrance of a few attractions with fast pass plus, but it normally cleared pretty quickly. I hope Disney makes adjustments to the return times to smooth it back out.

Since Mesaboy2 has blocked you UNC, I will point out the fact that he has posted a minimum of 1,000 posts to help people out on this board.
