Well we just got back from a 10 day trip at WDW and I have to say this trip defined the statement that there are those family memebers you can travel with and those that you can't. We went with my parents, my mil, my bil and his wife...a good crowd, but obviously too much for my kids to take.

A word of advice, DO NOT GO TO MK ON THE DAY OF TAPING. Not just to watch the taping, but don't go anywhere in that park. We were pushed along everywhere not just on main street. My DH was ready to punch a CM at one moment because we were trying to get our kids into the stroller when he was told to 'move on' very rudely.

Let me just say the MVMCP and entertainment was awesome! The Osborne lights were FANTASTIC! and we even enjoyed the AK Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade.

Now I know this is going to sound selfish, but everyone else in our trip got some type of magic dream award but us. My DH is still in shock over it. Hey there are those who have it and those who don't. Maybe it was the frustrated faces we had the entire time because of the family that kept them away out of fear!

Oh well, we definitely defined for us that we won't be back to WDW or any vacation with family again!

Its just not the same when you go with other people.
My family of 3 know exactly what we want to do and we are commando.
I can't stand, standing around while someone wonders off and we have to wait, and then have to get everyone on the same page for eating or rides.
When you go with other people they want to do things totally different from you and thats when it becomes not fun.

I agree with you 100% We've gone with extended family before and part's of it are a nightmare every time. Never again! I like to have fun on vacation and it's just too much stress with other people tagging along. Just not passive enough to go with the flow I guess and my peeps end up irritating me! Waiting for my sister last time while it took her 20 freakin minutes to get her kid in and out of the stroller at every single ride was more than I could take. Lots and lots of standing around waiting. No thanks! We're comando too and standing around waiting is wasting precious park time. :furious:. I know, I'm a B....

P.S. Before any of the stroller pushing moms flame me, I just thought I would add that I was a stroller pushing mom once too and it certainly did not take me 20 minutes before and after each ride. It took me 2!

I agree with you about the dreams. We kept thinking our dream was right around the next corner but we got nuthin. People next to us in line in Soarin got one as did someone by my DH at Space Mountain.

My future in-laws want to come with us on our next trip in 2010. No way. They do NOT believe in ADR's and are the SLOWEST people on Earth. My future sil's kids are horrible and I don't think I could take it!! (I am a nanny by day but when you aren't taking care of them there is little you can say! :furious: ) I don't rush around the parks but my DF and I make a great team. He likes the ADR's and we plan our day around them. I think he realized last time how much organization you need when you head to WDW. So I applaud you for making it thru your trip. We will somehow have to remove the family from our plans for the next trip or I may not be able to enjoy any disney magic!! :sad2:

Rstamm, do you go extreme commando?

I don't know what overtakes me but when I get to the park I want to hit everything now!
At work I'm a very relaxed person and no one believes me when I tell them I don't want to relax on vacation.
We get there at opening so we can hit the rides with no lines and we don't stop till lunch, and then start right back up.
I keep wating for a point in time where I'll have been there enough times to slow down, but that has not happened yet.
We do get our parade seats about 1 hr early, but usually DW will sit and wait and I'll take DS on rides.
