We just got back from our 4 night cruise. Here are some tips. When making ressies for the spa or palo's know that the person making the ressies will try to guide you to a different time or date. We wanted ressies for palo's on the last night (boy were they pushing the 3rd night) and have the ressies as late as possible. The person taking the ressies suggested 8:30 instead of 9:00 because our luggage had to be out in the hall by 11:00. I moved the ressies to 8:30. As I found out afterwards if you plan ahead you can get your luggage out early. I also found that making the spa appointments were also similar. I wanted to get a peticure and the person making the ressies told me that on the last day at castaway cay everyone had to be on the ship by 4:00 which wasn't the case. We had until 4:30. I know 30 min. doesn't seem like alot of time but we didn't get to rent bikes and see the other end of the island because of the 30 min differents. We also took the blue lagoon day at the beach in nassau. It was beautiful. We had a good time. I had read a trip report before going and was advised to take money and food from the ship. We did both. We used the money but not the food. Seems the garden grill has included hamburgers and hotdogs as part of its (included in the prepaid lunch) menu. But do bring water! We agreed if we did it again we would bring a large container for water or lemonade from the ship. (this would have also been handy while on the ship, for the times you might spend in your cabin)/ In freeport we took a taxi to the beach and shopping area. We really only wanted to go shopping and found after the 40.00 trip that there are shops right outside the ship! All in All we had a Great time and plan on another cruise soon!

Don't bring beach towels! And pack much less than you think you will need!

I wish we could have stayed at castaway cay for two days! p.s. the lunch on castaway cay isn't anything to brag about!

But the breakfast at parot cay is!

Thanks for your tips!

I have to disagree with you though....the ribs on Castaway Cay are great!!! as is the banana bread....

I couldn't agree more!

But the breakfast at parot cay is!

We'll definitely have to try this next time! We're always looking to try something new!

SO glad you had a good time. Thanks for the tips/advice!

No banana bread at castaway cay on my trip. We did have banana bread and great ribs the night before castaway cay at Parrot Cay. yum yum..... The ribs were not the same on castaway cay.

Thanks for the tips. What kind of shopping was right near the port in Freeport? I'd prefer to avoid the taxi if possible.

I agree! I thought the lunch there was the best we had all week on the ship! I also prefer to bring my own beach towels since the ones they give you are so small.

There is a small shopping area right off of the ship. There are about 25 to 30 small shops. (just like the shops we seen at the shopping area near the beach). The Freeport port isn't that nice. The ship docks in an industry area. There are alot of oil holding tanks etc. The shopping area is just across the street from where the taxi's gather. The shops kinda blend into the surrounding buildings that is why it was so hard to see them when we first got off of the ship. We didn't see it until we returned to the ship.

I did hear that the snorkel adventure was really good. I hear the excursion was to a living reef.

As for the food on Castaway Cay. There wasn't any banana bread!! They did have pineapple upside down cake, cookies, and ice cream. The only banana bread was on the ship in parrot cay...and it was yummy. Maybe they have changed the menu on the island.....

I really appreciate the time you took to post this info! It is such a help to read posts like this! ;)

We were thinking of packing a lunch and heading to the beach for the day. Is that far? How do we know which one to go to? We've been there before, but it's been a while. This is Freeport I'm talking about.

Thanks! :Pinkbounc

We are going to our first Wonder cruise this September, and I thought about bringing our own beach towel, but my DH thought it would take too much luggage space. I'm 5'9" and DH is 6'4". I think I am bringing our own towels now.

Thanks for the tip :Pinkbounc
