I was at WDW for 8 nights, 7 days, we did 2 days at MGM, MK, EP, and 1 day at AK. Here are some tips.

Dates: August 23-31

-Mornings (opening to 11:30 am) were not very busy at all. We rode Splash Mountain back to back with no wait at 10:30am one day. You could basically walk on most rides with little wait. We did Ranger Spin, Space Mount, Rockin Roller Coaster, Safari, with less than 10 min wait. Test track had a 30min wait early on and so did Soarin.

-Afternoons were VERY BUSY

-Eat whenever you want, it never got that busy

-Mission Space singles line has NO ONE in it

-Water parks were not that busy at all.

-EMH at MGM were busy but usefull to squeeze in TofTerror (20min wait)

-Fantasmic had good seats left 45 minutes before show and no line waiting

-GET A FASTPASS FOR SOARIN'

-Living Seas and Wonders of Life were closed and will be for a while

-USE PHOTOPASS, it is FREE!!!

Sounds like a fun trip, thanks for sharing the tips. Wish I were going soon. :)

AND if you're going within the next week or 2, try to pick up a Mister Fan at Walmart. Much cheaper than the Disney ones and you'll need it. I welcomed the rain at the parks for a cool off :sunny:

I just threw ours in our carry on! Last year we paid around $20 for one at WDW.

I wanted one of those fans in May but was not paying that much for it. Glad you all had a great trip!

novastar: Thanks for all the great tips! My family leaves in 7 days, and it helps to keep getting up to date info on how busy the parks seem to be.

jwfla422r: How big are the mister fans that you got from walmart. I currently have one, but am not bringing it due to it's bulkyness. The only walmart we have is a 30 minute drive (about), so I wanna get an idea of what it is before I drive out there to get one. Thanks!

The "Photopass" is a card I received a while back from my passholder newsletter. It is a card that you can view your pictures from all 4 parks that the cast members take and order from the website. You know, the pictures they take when you enter the park etc..You can view them online when you get home and order them too for 30 days after!

Ahhh sounds like you had a great time. I wish I could go at that time of year just for the crowd levels....Un fortunately, my DD's will absolutely never want to miss their first day of schoool, even for WDW!

After reading the article I still have one question...probally a silly one as well....where or who do you get the card from??? :confused3

Glad you had a good trip! :)

We were there 8/19 - 8/28 for our first ever august trip. The wierd thing was that we thought it wasn't as hot as our June trips in the past! :confused3 It was HOT, but we managed to do a ton of stuff. Both water parks were open and the kids and I love them! We got to EPCOT (the International Gateway entrance) 2 days at opening and managed to get right on Soarin'. We rode it once, got a fastpass, then went on The Land ride, saw The Circle of Life show, and then used the fastpass. Another day we rode Soarin' once and then went over to Test Track and rode it 3x in a row with a very short wait - we basically walked right into the pre-show room. It was all about the timing.

We will be back next august! :)

I believe that when you get your picture taken the first time they'll give you a card to use. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. :)

This may be a dumb question, is ordering through Disney the only way you can get hard copies of the pictures? Those prices are a little high for us. Or can you print them off on your own computer before the 30 days expires? Do they just disappear online after 30 days? Can you save them in a file yourself? Thanks! Jennifer

You get a card the first time you use it. You take the number on the card and log into the website, where the photos will be kept for 30 days FROM THE LAST LOGIN TIME! So you can get the deadline extended automatically each time you login (...or so a photographer told me). You get a small (roughly 4x6) preview picture which you can print yourself, or you can pay a ton to get them in print.

We used it the last time we were there. You can view your pics online, but if you try to save them without paying, they turn out real small. You can email them to friends for free. There is an example of one in my sig below.
