Just got back from seeing "Alice in Wonderland"

DH and I just got back from watching in 3D. Awesome movie. I just loved the hatter and the cheshire cat. :ccat: I too think that kids should be at least 8 and up as there were a couple of frightening parts. But all around good film.

Loved Alice, the hatter & the Cheshire cat.
The Jabberwocky scene was scary & so was
that mean guard-dog thing.

I thought the movie was really great, awesome 3D :thumbsup2

I thought the Red Queen stole the show!!!
But other than that It was only OK.

DH & I went to see it tonight. We thought it was really well done and stuck somewhat with the book for a decent part. I kept waiting for the turtle who sings "Beautiful Soup!" but that didn't happen. I guess they had to leave out some stuff. That said, Johnny Depp's recitation of "Jabberwocky" is one of the best I've ever heard. He is absolutley marvelous as the Mad Hatter and I just loved Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen.

I had read some reviews earlier that weren't too complimentary but I remembered that critics also panned POTC when it came out and we all know how that went. We really like "Alice" a lot and I wouldn't mind going back again.

We also went to see it today. We loved it.

Can't wait to see it again with DD in a week or so.

Well done!!

We just got back. Packed theatre (sold out). Maybe I was grumpy because the woman sitting next to me was dying loudly of some variety of the black plague (cough...cough...cough-cough....HACK!), and when she was hacking up a lung, she was carrying on a full-on conversation with her obnoxious 4 years old who wouldn't shut the deuce up! I swear....if it wasn't so crowded I would've yelled at them both to shut up.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I thought it was a mediocre movie. Huge chunks of missing plot and story. Underdeveloped characters. It sure was neat to LOOK AT though.

Of course, maybe I missed the plot and character development due to the upper respiratory infection that was being rained down upon me every 30 seconds.

Went and saw it today, in Digital 3-D, it was great, do I think the 3-D was necessary, eh, it wasn't as impressive as Avatar in 3-D, I think it could be fully appreciated on the regular digital screen.

The previews were great too...cannot wait for TRON.

Glad to hear the part in bold above. We are going tomorrow and my oldest DD does not really care for 3-D movies. I told her we could go see the regular version but I haven't seen many reviews on that version.

We didn't see it in 3D and loved it. I have not been blown away with any 3D movies so far, so we stopped going to them.

The Tron preview was sweet. Even DW - who didn't like the original at ALL when I played it for her a few years ago and had zero interest in Legacy - said to me after the preview, "Ok, that does look cool." I was moderately interested before, but now I am really looking forward to it. Looks like it might be amazing.

I will agree that the 3D effects are nice but not amazing and certainly not necessary to enjoy the movie. We had a gift card so we went for the $11 per ticket RealD 3D presentation but I wouldn't have wanted to pay that much out of pocket for it now that we've seen it.

I also agree about the character development being cutoff or nonexistent for the most part. But still an enjoyable movie.

Do love the score, though. Very different for Danny Elfman - sounded more like Phillip Glass in most places - driving, minimalistic Glass ostinati with an Elfman melody overlaid. (Greetings to any other former music majors who understood that, haha.)

I don't do 3-D due to motion sickness. I thought the movie was really beautiful in 2-D and I enjoyed it very much.

Saw the movie last night and loved it! Depp was awesome as usual. The Red Qeen (of hearts) was also fantastic! We also saw it in 3-D but I didn't get much from the 3-D except at the end. I kept looking over my glasses to compare and noticed lots of it was in 2-D anyway. I could have easily skipped the 3-D and saved 3 bucks on each ticket.

You are too funny. I spat out my coffee! Yes, the black plague is going around here as well.

I am so confused. 6 of us saw it opening night and we all thought the story was boring. I loved the characters, the actors, some of it was quite funny but the story was dull. I felt like I hadn't watched a movie when it was over. I'm genuinely surprised that so many people loved the story.

Took the family to see it today and for the most part we thought it was just okay. Depp was terrific as the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat was really well done.

The character I really had a problem with was Alice. I just could not get any emotion invested in the character or the actress.

Overall, I think I would give it a C.
