Well this is my first post but I have enjoyed reading others advice. We just returned yesterday from RPR and Universal and for the most part the trip was GREAT! Just wanted to let everyone know please verify your reservations as our trip started out a little shaky due to my not doing this. We reserved a Club room back in March and had booked throught AAA. Paid in full at the time as well. When we went to check in on Thurs. RPR put us in a room on the 6th floor and never indicated that we weren't part of the Club level. Thanks to all the info on these threads I realized that the Club level is on the 7th floor and proceeded to ask about it. The girl at the desk went to check and then told us that our original reservations (2 rooms) had been cancelled and then rebooked to a non-Club reservation. Thank goodness I had all my paperwork showing that I had booked and paid for these rooms, only problem they said there were no rooms available on the Club level, nor would there be all week. I was very disappointed by this and after spending almost 1.5 hours at the desk came away with rooms on the 6th floor but with Club access keys. As a apology they gave us a comp to the breakfast in Islands for the next day, but that was pretty pointless as continental breakfast is included with Club. Found the employees very nice, but felt there was alot of confusion behind the scenes. After 3 nights we realized that we never received our welcome gift for being a Lowe's member and called asking about it. The desk said that they had forgotten to deliver it and would take care of it. More confusion. Loved the feel of the hotel and had a great time at the parks, FOTL was great. Never waited more than a few minutes, wouldn't have been able to handle the parks with the heat otherwise. Not sure if we would stay at RPR again, it was alot of money for the types of mistakes that were made.

Thanks for the heads up, I am going to be staying there 7/12-7/16 and am hoping all goes well. I am most looking forward to the fotl feature! I will keep an eye out and make sure I bring all my paper work!:)

Sorry you had such confusion with your reservation...I had a similar problem when I was given a room in the pet-walk section for a pet (dog) I never knew existed. (I own a cat who chose to remain in NY).:scared1:

I love RPR,(stayed there 4x) but I noticed on my last trip that the left did not seem to know what the right was doing. The confusion abounded, but they never seemed to make a mistake in charging me for everything, and I had to question certain aspects of my bill. ( I just received my credit card statement where they charged me 77.00 for mini-bar expenses where i never even had a key to the thing and therefore never opened it. They also charged me for three movies in the room when i watched only one (they charged for the same movie three minutes apart!!) I hope they get their act together soon, it is not getting better. I might try HRH next time around, but I've heard similar stories from that end of the park too. Let's see what happens!!

Sorry about the frustrations you had. Always always always bring your paperwork! I luckily had mine last time (PBH), because they had my rate wrong.

Can you say no to linking a CC to your room? We never use minibar/in-room movies and don't fancy risking a charge!

Now I'm a little worried. I have a ressie for December but I booked over the phone direct with Universal. They never sent me any paperwork. Should I be worried? It's a surprise and I'd hate for things to be ruined b/c of a mistake. I booked RPR Water View King with a AAA rate for 1 night.

you can say no to a cc- we have done it in the past.

SnowWtch- I would not worry- we were there last Dec. and it was perfect! You will have a great time!

That it totally unacceptable! RPR Club has a very, very nice continental breakfast, and ITA with you that a comped breakfast in the dining room was a pointless apology. I have been stuck on the 6th floor with club access and that is no picnic as then you have to take an out-of-the-way detour to utilize the club lounge/services. I hope that you received a survey and filled it out accordingly. I would have been pretty livid. As much as I love the RPR, that was sooo not OK. Sorry that happened to you. :(

Sorry you had the troubles, but overall sounds like a good trip!

If you booked through AAA, you should go check with your agent to try and figure out if something got changed from their end.

How was the club anyway? Service, food, etc. Sorry about being placed on the 6th floor, that is awful.

:) :cool1: Despite all the problems at check-in our trip ended up being wonderful. The staff are extremely nice and helpful. We enjoyed using the Club Room and feel that it was definitely worth the extra money. The only complaint I had was it was HOT, HOT, HOT. With that as my biggest complaint then all in all it was a great trip. FOTL is the best thing there is especially with the heat. Don't know how anyone does Universal without it. Have a great trip.

I'm staying at RPH in 3 wks. Do they place a "hold" on your credit card at check in and if so, how much? I only have a visa checkcard and I want to make sure I budget myself for this. We are staying at Disney the first 3 days and they don't place a hold, unless your going to be charging back to your room.
Thank you.

happy to see you posting about your trip.
we all love to read them.

about the issue with the room, you are much kinder than i would have been.
i would have been talking with the manager and not front desk.

but, if you were happy on the 6th, then that is still good.
