Hi,
I wanted to post about our Poly stay.. It was super. When we checked in we got upgraded to Concierge , had Lagoon and perfect view of castle.. Don't know how that happened, we did not even ask for an upgrade. Concierge is awesome.. We did have the dining plan so did not utilize it as much. It has us thinking that maybe it would be worth the extra$ due to the constant food it provides. Hence saving $ on food elsewhere. Mousekeeping was super, we got turndown service everynite and never requested it. Everything about the poly stay was perfect. This was our 1st Disney stay w/ our son so the monorail made everything very convienent. We normally stay at AKL and love that place. I do like the theming and the pool /atmosphere better at AKL but for young children the Poly was perfect.

The negative of the trip was that we had to switch to wilderness lodge the last nite due the poly having no reservations on our last nite. Well that was complete chaos. We ended up having to stay around the pool all day(which was fine but we had a 6 month old who desperately needed a nap and to be out of the heat) we checked in at 11 hoping we could get a room. No avail.. Kept calling and were then told maybe at 4pm our room woudl be clean.. Not good as we had to leave at 3am for magical express pickup and check in is 3pm.. The girl we kept dealing w/ up front was not too helpful so i called and spoke to someone else .. I think his name was Carter and he was able to get us a room immediately.(about 2:30pm). So there were rooms avail but she did not want to switch our key. My problem is that we were already staying somewhere else so I feel it woudl be easier to get a room quicker as they already had open rooms. The poly let us check in at 11am and we got our room immediately. So I don't think we will be doing a resort switch again as it was not worth the hassle. Our perfecty trip started turning downward dealing w/ the curt girl at reception and then finding out from Carter that they did have rooms available all along.

I am so glad you enjoyed the majority of your trip. How stressful to have to deal with the resort switch with a baby! My kids are out of the nap stage but I remember those days...no nap = no fun!

I think you may have gotten the one bad apple at the WL front desk. We stayed at the WL in July and everyone I ever dealt with at the front desk was most helpful. It really stinks that in your situation you ended up with a CM who was less than helpful. I am glad someone was able to resolve it for you eventually.

We are thinking of staying at the Poly for one night before our cruise in February, and I really enjoyed reading your report.

Thanks for that great review of the Polynesian and congragulations on the upgrade to Concierge. :thumbsup2

It's to bad you had problems when trying to check-in at the Wilderness Lodge, however if you think about it at least you now know not to do split stays anymore.

I've been thinking about staying at AKL on our next trip but think a monorail resort would be great. Poly would probably be my choice. Can't decide which I would rather do (don't want to do the move thing, trying both).

Can you give any additional insight into the pros and cons of each?

Thanks!
