Hi fellow DVC members. My husband and I just got back from 5 days at OKW without kids! Yeah, we had such a great time. Of course we did miss the kids, but I have been a true believer in taking a vacation without kids each year. Always nice to reinforce the reasons why you got married in the first place.
Well, trip down was ok. I will be honest I was nervous about flying. But everything went well. Both my husband and I got our bags searched. Once in Pittsburgh and another time in Orlando. The whole experience was strange and good if you know what I mean.
Parks and resorts were empty. OKW at breakfast was like a ghost town. I also found out that there are no more character breakfasts at OKW. Disney took them away about three weeks ago. The characters however still stop by at random.
Several restauants are closed completely and at different times of the day such as breakfast and lunch or just dinner.
On our last night, we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside which was very nice. I would stay there again if I needed too. I did learn something new from their cast member at check in that I did not know nor was ever told by a cast member at OKW. I learned you can park at any Disney park such as Magic Kingdom, Epcot etc for free as long as you have your checkin pass (the piece of paper you stick up on your window) when going through the parking booth at the park. I never knew that, did you? I guess I was disappointed that being a DVC member I was never told this and I have been a member for over 6 years. But then again it was nice to learn something new about staying on Disney property.
Oh by the way, we purchased another 100 pts at HH while we were down. Great incentive to join at HH right now. Call your advisor for details.
