We got back late last night and all I can say is- WOW!!!!!!!!!

What a beautiful, gorgeous place!! We spent seven days on the island of Ohau and stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Every single day was sunny and at least 80 degrees, and the nights were lovely, also. As soon as I get photos developed I'll post some on here, and I'll give a trip report for anyone who would like to read it. Also, if anyone is planning a trip to Oahu maybe I can answer some questions for you.

Hawaii was unbelievable, the people were very friendly, and we had a terrific, amazing vacation!! :sunny:

Day one trip report- post 29

I'm glad to hear you had such an amazing time!
My dh has been to Hawaii several times and wants desperately for me to go but I don't know if its "my kind of holiday"!
I envision just sitting around on the beach and doing water sports--which I am not a big fan of--did you find other activities/sightseeing to do?
We have cousins who live there who could show us a round but I have to get there first!
Share with me your trip if you will.....I would love to know more about it! :goodvibes

I'd like to hear more about your trip too. My DH and I are thinking about going to Hawaii, we are thinking about doing a cruise around all the islands. We are not the type to just lay on the beach, we like to sightsee. So let us know how you spent your time.

I'm soooo jealous! ;) :cloud9:

My dh and I went to hawaii for our honeymoon 10 years ago. We loved it.

We aren't even the type that really like to sit on the beach all day. There is so much there to visit. We only stayed on Oahu and it was amazing. Others have told us that they like better the other islands because it's more relaxing but we are the type that like to be on the go for a vacation so Oahu was perfect for us. :sunny:

We were in Hawaii about 16 years ago. It was soooo beautiful.
Well, having just got back from WDW my Dh and I have decided it's time to go back to Hawaii.
So, we are saving our pennies. I'm sure we won't get there for a while, so please post some pics! Dying to see it!

I was also in Hawaii at the Hilton Hawaiian Village at the end of October. However, it did rain a couple days while I was there. Off season at The HHV was a great place to stay Great views, beach, atmosphere and within a short walking distance of a great mall.

We're going to Maui next Fall. It's so darn far away that I can't stand the wait. I'm just not looking forward to the looooong plane ride to get there, ugh!

Went once

Welcome back! I haven't been to Hawaii in over 20 years. I love it there! :sunny:

I always tell anyone who just wants to sit on the beach all day to go to Florida or the Carribean. Hawaii is SO MUCH MORE than that. Each island is so diverse. On Oahu you can visit Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, the Bowfin Submarine, the Polynesian Cultural Center, China Town, the Dole Pineapple Factory, The Ioloni Palace, hike Diamond Head, drive around the island and hike in other areas, go shopping, go the aquarium, visit the Zoo, and eat more different kinds of food than what you can find at Epcot Center.
I haven't even mentioned the water sports, snorkeling, sailing and moonlit cruises.Maui is also very different from Oahu and I could make a list just as long. The Big Island has 13 different climates and you an see them all in a couple of days, not to mention the biggest attraction, a real volcano with flowing lava. We are heading back to Hawaii next summer and the only dilemma I ever have is which three island to visit , I love them all.

Oh my goodness, when we were there in July, we were BUSY and spent almost no time sitting around on the beach (although that is something I enjoy) SO much to do and see. :sunny:

I'm still sifting through pictures and will post some as soon as I can. My daughter has to help me because I STILL can't seem to get the hang of picture posting.

I'll try to get a trip report up by tomorrow morning. Right now the house is in total disarray- suitcases on every level, piles of dirty clothes and wet bathing suits flowing out of the laundry room, souvenirs covering the dining room table and living room floor, and a cat who is ignoring us because we left him behind with relatives! Also, dealing with the sad news that one of daughter's guinea pigs died while we were gone. My aunt felt so bad but there was nothing she could do.

I want to go back to Hawaii!! :sunny:

I agree about the long flight!! We flew from Boston to Phoenix which was about five and a half hours, had a two hour layover, then flew from Phoenix to Honolulu which was about six hours. We arrived in Honolulu at 3:30pm Hawaii time, which was really 8:30pm East Coast time. By the time we got to bed that night it was 11pm in Hawaii, but according to our tired bodies it was 4am!

And coming home, we flew out of Honolulu at 11:00pm, but due to the five hour time difference and one airport layover, we arrived in Boston at 5pm the next day. Boy, did I hate getting off that plane and getting hit with the cold air! I sooooooooooo miss the Hawaiian weather!! :sunny:

I love the North Shore of Oahu - did you make it there?

We did the Island-hopping cruise this past summer and liked it - but I had scheduled us for too many full-day tours - a lot of getting off/on busses. We also didn't do "activities" - I think if we would have had more fun if we had scheduled some snorkling.

I will write more about it, but we LOVED the Hilton Hawaiian Village! It's a huge place, but beautifully landscaped and right on the widest, and not as populated, part of Waikiki beach.

I want to go some day. I would love to hear more details. :)
