Just got back from first Fort trip - it was soooooo awesome!

Thanks to everyone on these boards for their information, opinions, and experiences shared! We had a fantastic time - on the ride home we already started planning our next trip! AND I think I have DH talked into buying a popup after my car is paid off...

We, too, fell in love with the Fort on our first visit and eagerly made plans for a follow up trip (which is now only 3 months away). Isn't it amazing how easy it is to get hooked?

Okay, my first trip report... here we go!

It takes between 8-9 hours to drive to Orlando from where I live - depends on traffic and stopping... So, originally we were going to leave on Wednesday and drive all the way. Go to the parks Thurs, Fri, Sat. Then, drive home on Sun.
BUT, the more I read and learned about the Fort, the more I thought we needed some time here. SO, I told DH that we needed to leave on Tuesday and spend the night somewhere cheap on the road. He said "You're the planner - sounds good to me" Woo hoo

So, we left on Tuesday around 4:00 and drove about 4 hours. Stayed in a Sleep Inn for $55 - worked out great!

OH, before I post pictures you just hafta know we are funny about posting ourselves online so if our whole face is featured it will be covered up. Totally stole the idea from another Dis'er.

Here's the car all packed and ready to go:

Believe it or not, there are two other large duffel bags and a stroller that you can't even see! Plus several other bags - and the back seat was clear for me to sit back there with DH whenever necessary. My CRV definitely gets the award for fitting the most stuff in the back of a small SUV!

That's about all the excitement for Day 1 - got Cracker Barrel for dinner and called it a night.

Slept a little later than planned, got on the road around 8:30 Had actually hoped to be out by 7:30 or so. That's what we get for not setting an alarm. We are just so used to DD waking up at 6:30, we didn't think we'd need one!

She was so funny - usually she is Miss Grumpypants in the morning - we woke her up and said "Do you want to go to Disney today?" She hopped right up and said "Let's go get back in the car!"

Finally arrived in Orlando, and after a quick stop at Publix for beer, bread, and ice cream ...shortly after 1:00 we see...

PS - another note about the pics - I'm still learning...
