I have just returned, sunburnt and exhausted and aching. When we left on Thursday for DLR, it was 97 degrees. I was afraid that would be the case over the weekend, but thankfully it cooled way down. I will probably do a trip report (if anyone wants to read it), but here are some quick highlights I wanted to share:

1. Thursday night, we ate at ESPN Zone - super crowded (almost like it was a weekend), but the waitress (Amy) was GREAT and the food was GREAT! I highly recommend eating there if you can somehow make a PS for it.

2. I got a Premium AP!!! I applied some tickets I had for it and paid only $191. I began using it right away for discounts on all our meals, and that really helped.

3. Carnation Cafe (which I usually LOVE) was having a bad night. The food was not as good as it usually is and the service was BAD. I love CC but was very unhappy with it this time.

4. Goofy's Kitchen - as usual - had the best spread of any buffet and the characters were out in full force and it was well worth the money we spent.

5. We ate at Storytellers Cafe for late lunch and their food was great. I prefer their lunch/dinner menu over their breakfast food.

5. Just ate at Naples today and it was GREAT. Service and food was great.

6. We ate at Rainforest Cafe for breakfast - portions were kind of small but otherwise, a great time because nobody was there and we had the table of our choice - next to the aquariums.

7. We ate dessert at Blue Bayou. The wait was too long, even with the PS. The girl at the front desk had an attitude. The waitress was super nice and the Flying Dutchman was good but I don't know if I would eat it again.

8. Toy Story Mania is AWESOME! We rode it three times and it broke down once while we were in line but it is addictive. Buzz Lightyear is still fun, but Toy Story is better!

8. The TOTP was CROWDED - and I did not see one single LGMH the entire Disneyland trip, NOR did I see any of the Dream Squad anywhere in DLR. We got lots of good candy (chocolate mostly) at the TOTP.

9. We tried Photopass for the first time and I am a fan now! All the photographers were so helpful in being patient to get the best pictures and making sure nobody got in our way. They had us do the silly poses so that will be cool to see.

10. Pirates Lair was closed the whole time - they are using that for Miley Cyrus' b-day thing today. The ToonTown Post Office building was covered and under 'beautification.'

11. It is confirmed - SMALL WORLD WILL HAVE DISNEY CHARACTERS IN IT WHEN IT OPENS NEXT MONTH. A CM confirmed it - there will be Disney characters subtly placed throughout IASW - permanently - and you will start noticing them when IASWH opens next month.

12. We smelled the gingerbread on HMH - the gingerbread coffin house is so amazing. Wait till you see it.

13. Mr. Potato Head is NO LONGER sold at the Gag Factory in ToonTown. The CM told me that he wondered if Mr. Potato Head was going away from DLR completely, but he admitted that Potato may be exclusively sold at EngineEars from now on, and nowhere else in DLR.

14. Our room at PPH was haunted - we had a drawer in the armoire that would not stay shut and kept popping out, and the water in the sink smelled like sulfur - ick! That was the first time I have had that experience at PPH. Also, they forgot to give us our parking pass. BUT they had the adorable new bottles of shampoo, etc., with the Mickey heads on them like the ones in the DLH! We got the Key to the Magic and they spelled my name wrong, but it was cool to have. We used the GCH entrance to DCA to ride TSMM.

15. I saw the Goofy head rock in POTC and it looks very much like his hat, but I don't know if it is supposed to be Goofy or just a rock that looks like his hat!

16. The Halloween merchandise is amazing. Cute Mickey pumpkin mugs. Here is a tip for anyone who loves Halloween - go into Department 56 in DTD and check out their AMAZING Halloween Display in the back of the store - it is like a Halloween amusement park with a Ferris wheel and spinning pumpkins and everything. IT is stunning - I had to take pictures of it!!!

As I think of more things I will post - or just do a full trip report. After Thursday, the weather was perfect and it never rained. The crowds were bad but not as bad as I expected. We walked right onto POTC twice in a row. Later on in the day, the wait was 30 minutes.

Glad you had a fun trip! Hopefully the crowds wont' be too overwhelming in a couple of weeks when we are there. :thumbsup2

Wow!! Thanks for all the great info, Sherry! Sounds like a fun trip, and a Premium AP for that price is very cool :thumbsup2

We're going in less than 2 weeks!!!! :cool1: I'm still madly trying to figure out how to buy 2 Deluxe Passes from a SoCal Costco, but other than that, I'm ready! Too bad you didn't see any LGMHs. I'm hoping I'll see some on our trip (17-21).

I've never been to CC but we have lunch ressies this time. Hope our experience is like your usual and not what you found this trip.

I didn't realize Rainforest had breakfast! Thanks for the tip. I have a $50 gift card (thanks to mypoints.com) I'm ready to use. I made dinner ressies but maybe I'll change it to breakfast.

We went on Wednesday and I remember the gingerbread smell. We got stopped right there and were able to get a good look at that entire room. It sure smells good!

We love ESPN Zone too.

Glad you had a good trip!

Oh goodness Sherry !!!

This makes me sooo stoked ! I hope you had an AWESOME time at MTOTP !!

I want to ask more q's but I'm on my way out to work :) I'm sure we'll be having some dialogue in the days to come ;)

Sherry! I'm glad you had such a wonderful time!!!! You got me soo excited for MTOTP!!!! Tell us more!!! I can't wait to read your TR!!!

I am so glad that you had a great time. I know that this year hasn't been that great for you  I really hope that you do a trip report. I can't wait to read it. :yay:

So when is your next trip?:rotfl2:

How did you apply your tickets to get your pass so cheap? Can you use more than one ticket? Sorry I may have misread it:confused3

I had three one-day/one-park tickets (given to me by a client of mine) which had never been used. They were all valued at $66 each (before the recent price increase). The Disneyland Bank said they basically look at those as "money" just as long as they have never been used. So I took all three unused tickets and brought them to the ticket window and applied the value of the three combined towards the price of the Premium AP, and got it for $191!!! If I had used one of the tickets, then I could only use one ticket to upgrade to an AP, but because the 3 had never been used, they are viewed as money!!!! And I tell you, the discounts I got on food really started to add up. I mean, in some cases, I was getting $7.00 off a bill here, $5.00 there, etc. I came home with more money in my wallet than I expected to. It was a good deal/value for the $191 I spent!

Glad you had a good time!

So you ordered nothing but the dessert? You should post that on mouseplanet and in a separate post here, b/c it's been wildly surmised that it wasn't allowed anymore. :)

Interesting about Potato Head. But then I felt that the Gag Factory location was awful, all stuck in the back like it was. That place is crowded to begin with! I like that there will be ONE location for it, so you don't miss something. :)

Glad you were able to use those tickets for upgrading, wow!

So now tell us why the front desk person at BB had an attitude. I'm nosy. :)

I would love to read your TR and see all your fun pics when you get everything together! So glad you had fun! :goodvibes

Sherry E...welcome back...glad you had a wonderful time. :cheer2:
Great news about the AP...way to go!
Waiting for pictures and a TR...:3dglasses ... JC

ps...glad you liked the song :)

So nice to hear you had a great time!

That's great info on all those restaurants. Thanks! Let's hear some more in a trip report, please! popcorn::

Sherry, glad that you had a great time! Did you smell gingerbread on HMH?

Welcome back Sherry:hug: glad you had a good time and that the weather cooled down for you...I told everybody about the LGMH stuff at DL...nobody really uses it like they say WDW people do:confused3 sounds like you had fun and I definitely would like to read a TR from you...

Sherry Girl - we looked for you this weekend - we ended up there on both Saturday and today!

We had a lovely time Saturday meeting kylieh and her family from Australia and then today, my oldest asked if she could ride Gadget's today, since she chickened out on Saturday. Went after we were done with the day's obligatons, and got there too late to get into ToonTown. They had to close it for Miley - she was in the park back there at 3pm or so doing prep for the party.

Glad you got the PAP and had a good time!

You know, we noticed a lot of Australian people in DLR during our trip, some of whom we were chatting with. I have never heard so many Aussie accents in DLR at one time! I wonder if one of the people we chatted with was Kylieh?? Hmmm... We were talking with one lady over by Grizzly River Rapids and another in Rainforest Cafe. There were also some Aussie folks over by the Castle when we were doing one of our Photopass pictures.

I knew that PRINCESSplazola, Toocherie and Cseca were going to be at DLR during that time (in fact, two of them were at my hotel), but I had no idea that you and Kylieh were going to be there too! I would have loved to meet someone from DISboards - I could not find one single LGMH to save my life!!!! I didn't meet anyone! We chatted with all sorts of people in lines everywhere, btu not a single DISer! We did not stay at GCH this time but we spent a lot of time in the lobby there and walking around the property, and I know you are often there at Napa Rose or wherever. We may have crossed paths and my LGMH was obstructed or something!!! Maybe we saw each other and didn't know it!

Friday was not SO crowded that is was uncomfortable, but Saturday got a little crazy about mid-day on through night.

I've noticed in recent years that there are a lot of Aussies and New Zealanders at DLR in Sept and Oct. I love meeting them. They r sooo nice.
I'm so excited about IASW!! Can't wait to see it! Going thru withdrawals already!
I'm gonna try to head to DL today after I run my errands. I can't wait to see HMH. I love the smell of gingerbread.
:thumbsup2

The folks from Australia are on Spring holidays right now. Kylie was telling me about how their holiday works and folks there get a minimum of 4 weeks.

We didn't really think about going down to the parks this weekend in advance, until Kylie and I got to chatting. We were in DL this time (been DCA for the last few times down, so we had to go into DL). We were there from 4:30-8 on Saturday and then 2:30-6:30 yesterday. Just enough time to do a couple things and eat.

I never see LGHMs, even though I try to look for them. I did chat with a woman who was a DIS lurker. She said something and I asked her flat out if she did DIS and she said "Yes!":thumbsup2
