Just got back from DL and what is with the crowds?

We just got back today from a week at DL. We had a wonderful trip as long as you don't include getting there and back ( not gonna get into it). Thursday -28th were light crowds we were able to do most of the things we wanted to do. Friday it poured and believe it or not we had a blast. It was great to walk on all the rides only down fall was waiting over an hour for shoes to dry in the hotel dryer. We stayed away on Saturday and Sunday we were only there for a little while and left before the CP started. And what the heck was with the crowds on Monday and Tuesday. I was hoping for no lines instead it felt like summer crowds. Tuesday morning we were at the gate at 7:15 and were first in our line. We wanted to do Nemo that morning and since our great CM taking our tickets actually scanned them before the countdown as soon as it was 1 we were through the gates and with a 4 and 7 year old we made the FIRST sub. It was cute not a ride I would wait an hour for but we had two EE so what the heck. Anyways anyone know why our little slow week turned into crazy week?

Not really sure why your week turned so crazy. But your post reminded me of my last trip to DL in July. We were there the last week of July. Three years ago my family and I went in the last week in July and we litterally walked on a lot of rides. We figured it would be the same thing this time. NOT even close. It was SOOOOO crowded this last time people were bumping into each other. We've booked another trip for Superbowl weekend and I have my fingers crossed hoping the crowds will be light.

Crowd levels at DL are just not predictable anymore.

We went to the parks over Veteran's Day Weekend. Saturday, they were taping the Christmas Parade...Josh Groben was there too.

We were expecting massive crowds, but were suprised that all the rides only had 10 - 20 minute stand-by lines. Space, Splash and Indy lines were about 30 minutes. Even Main Street wasn't packed the way I thought it would be. Sunday was the same-crowd wise.

The only day that we hit big crowds was Friday night, Nov. 16th. That was the official opening day of the holiday season, and the crowds were horrible.

From now on, our family is just going to plan our vacations around the weather, (can't stand hot temps) not the predicted crowd levels.

I will be there from Dec 23- 29 I am expecting it too be really crowded!!

Are you doing a trip report? I'm curious to know about your travelling woes. We go in Feb. from Edmonton. Have been to WDW several times but for some reason I'm intimidated by California. I'm thinking every place you go in California is crowded.
