Just got back from an amazing family outing at DS's school

My DS is in 4th grade. His school is grades 4-6. We just moved into the district last year.

Tonight was an event , called kick-off night for the kids and their families. All families were asked to donate $5.00.

DH and I were so impressed. There were pizzas being delivered by the carloads, nachos and cheese, popcorn. More cookies then you could imagine. Snowcones, drinks.

There were also a couple inflatables, games, face painting, tattoos and a live band. It was pretty amazing! The kids plus DH and I had a blast.

Plus the weather surely cooperated. It was a perfect night.

That sounds awesome! I'm a teacher and just got back from Curriculum Night where I talked to parents (blah blah blah) and half of them looked as though they might fall asleep!

I think that's an awesome idea. Seems like it creates an informal atmosphere for kids and parents to get to know the teachers, and for parents to stay involved. How fun!

Someone - mostly like a lot of 'someones' - put in a lot of time and effort for that fun time. Hopefully there is some way the students and parents can show their appreciation for whoever organized/worked the party.

DS' school is doing something similar tonight except it was $12 in advance, $15 at the door. That is per person. It is a fundraiser for the new playground but still, for a family of 4, that is a lot of money . I'm glad ds has his first baseball game tomorrow and we have to be there early. I used that as the excuse as to why we aren't going.

This is a party that is done every year. So every year some moms organize and put it together and a whole bunch of volunteers help throughout the night. ( I put in my 1/2 hour), which is all they expected.

It really was alot of fun!
