We arrived Sat morning Jan. 2nd and left Sat. Jan. 9th. We stayed at Grand Floridian.
Cons: Chilly and rainy the first few days. Also parks were very crowded from Sat. until Tues. We went to hollywood Studios Sat. and Mon. which were both very crowded (Indiana Jones Stunt show was standing room only). but we got to see the Osborne Lights which was great.

My son asked me to go on Toy Story Midway Mania with him. It was my first time and the ride broke down. We were stuck on it for a while, with an endless loop of arcade music such that I had to stick my fingers in my ears not to go insane. Also the lap bar was very tight and I am a small person. I was starting to panic when the ride thankfully started back up.

MK was crazy busy on Tues. We were waiting in fast pass for Pirates of the Caribbean for an hour , the last 20 minutes we could see the boats and no one was being loaded. Finally the lights all came on and an announcement was made for everyone to exit. We were bummed and dh was so fed up with the crowds and not getting to ride Pirates that we left the park and didn't get to see Wishes ( I did get to see them another night from our resort).

PROS:
all the cast members were excellent, very friendly and helpful.

Hollywood Studios fireworks were AMAZING, the best fireworks we have ever seen. We were able to see them twice, the second time was Thursday the 7th when the park felt almost empty. I went on Star Tours 4 times no waiting. We loved all the Star Wars stuff, especially the short film, The Path of a Jedi, we saw it twice. We spent 3 days visiting Hollywood Studios, my husband's favorite park.

We were in the parks with many of the S. A. tour groups and no problems what so ever.

Ate at the Wave for the first time and it was excellent.

Also on Sat. the 9th we were at AK and decided to see if we could get into Tusker House to eat around 3:00. We walked up, told them we did not have reservations and were told it would be a 10 min. wait, it turned out to be about a 1 min. wait. We loved the characters, all of them came to our table at least 7 or 8 times, we got so many pics with them. The food was good also.

Mon. night at Hollywood Studios, I was cold so bought a nice zip up hoodie (red with Mickey on the back). The next day in MK as I was getting off Peter Pan, somehow the zipper got caught in the moving walkway at the exit of Peter pan and the zipper was completely ripped off. Disney sent a new hoodie to my room the next day and removed the charge from our bill. They said for me to accept the new hoodie as a gift from Disney for the inconvenience of it being damaged. I did not demand anything like that, I was glad to get a replacement so them also removing the charge was quite wonderful of them.

Lastly, we spent Wed. with a realtor looking at developments and houses around Disney as we will be moving there in 1 to 1 1/2 years. Found some areas that we love. She also showed us the back way into Disney.

We had a nice time, like we always do, even with the rain, chilly weather and crowds lol.

I think we were on POTC that day when it broke down. We were stuck in the big room near the end and the song started to get annoying until they finally muted it - which was a little creepy because the characters were still moving! They did give us a limited fast pass when we got off.

I love how Disney goes out of their way to solve problems. We let DD's lightsaber on a ride and they immediately gave us a voucher for a replacement. Friday she lost her interactive wand at Universal and they have not been helpful at all. :(

So nice to see someone else that loves HS and isn't another "hater", lol! We loved this park and definitely wished we had more time there. Was definitely DH's favorite park as well!

We were also at MK for a short visit on Tuesday the 5th. Yes, it was busy! We did get to ride POtC with a 10 minute wait around 10am. The boats backed up at the end and we sat for a few minutes with the thud of a new boat bumping in every so often. Just as we were starting to wonder if we were stuck we started moving again. Perhaps we just missed the shutdown.

So excited for you! We bought in Davenport three years ago and now we are snowbirds. A chilly day at Disney still beats northeast winter. We pop over to the parks frequently. Makes for a great morning walk. Glad you had a good trip and wish you the best in your coming move.

Not always, you were lucky! We were at HS on Sunday 1/3, dd bought the BB-8 souvenir cup and while I was in charge of carrying it (in a bag from a gift shop), I accidentally left it behind while waiting outside the restroom for her by the launch bay. I realize it within 5 minutes and went into the gift shops near there asking CMs if anyone had turned the bag in but it was long gone...obviously a guest took it and decided to keep it. No one offered to do anything for us, and we probably dealt with 10 different CMs while trying to find it.

I don't know if the lap bar on TSMM is supposed to be so tight. It was our first time on there this past time finally and while it wasn't initially that tight it became very tight once we started firing the cannons

I think Fantasmic is the best firework display/show in Disney World!!! Yes, I love Wishes, but the story with Fantasmic is so great. I get so disappointed when I see people telling others to skip it- due to loud/scary etc. we did the dinner package.. Had great seats, and it was one of my 5 year old's best memories of the 8 days that we were there.

I thought we were in the minority here. My family actually spent an entire day last week at HS from RD to the Star Wars fireworks and Osborne Lights. Obviously not as much to do there as in years past, but there was enough for everyone. It was an enjoyable change of pace from MK.

It was a bit scary for my 5 year old. She wasn't such a big fan, and spent part of it curled up in our lap, but the rest of us (including my 8 year old) LOOOOOOVED it!

That's what we found - it felt far more leisurely.

We were there last week too and can confirm that MK on Tuesday was much busier than the crowd calendar had forecast. Went back on Friday and were surprised that it was considerably less crowded than Tuesday. We also ran into issues with POC. We were in the fp line when it went down for about half an hour. They really need to work out the issues with that ride. Can also confirm that you'll get fairly wet in the front row.

Not sure if you went to Epcot, but we were there on Wednesday and it was practically empty. Test Track was basically the only thing with a wait more than 5 minutes.....even Mission Space topped out at 15 minutes from what I saw.

We just got back and had the same thoughts about the crowds in MK on Tuesday ... cray stupid BUSY! We stood in the FP+ line for HM for close to 10 minutes before we even got to the sensors!! The line for the people mover ... CRA-CRA!! We did however, luck into an unexpected treat ... dessert in Skipper's Canteen! Got off the Jungle Cruise and a few CM's were wandering around inviting people in ... nothing on the menu appealed but dessert YES, loved it. We were one of 3 tables PERIOD, but when we left there was a huge crowd waiting. We were in EPCOT on Sunday the 3rd in the pouring rain and WOW, guess peeps are scared they might melt! We stayed at the Dolphin and were lucky enough to have a balcony that we could watch Illuminations AND the new Star Wars fireworks from... I'm gonna try to put a few pics here .. crowd level at EPCOT IMG_1163.JPG IMG_1167.JPG
