Just a few quick notes on our stay at OKW this past weekend. We had only stayed there once before in Dec 05 and wasn't really impressed only SSR and OKW were available so I figured we'd give it another try.

We arrived about 2pm and were given studio 5325 which was ready. Checked in and the room reeked of smoke. It was disgusting. Called the front desk and was offered another room in building 19. Moved to studio 1920 which was directly across from the Miller's Rd bus stop. Handy but noisy as all get out. Not too impressed.

The room is very spacious which is nice but I actually miss having the pull out. People post on here all the time about how AKL/VWL are so "dark" well I thought OKW was worse. There is really no natural light that can come in and most times we were in the room I had every single light turned out and it was still really dim.

Bus transportation was good, efficient and we never waited more than the posted time. We also like the boat to DTD. We had a rental car and only used the buses for MK. It was very handy to park right outside your room but I should have tried harder to get a 1st floor room because carrying all our stuff, plus toddler and stroller got really old fast.

We never used Olivia's or the other food options but they aren't really that convienent if you aren't right at the HH. I really missed just being able to "run down" like at AKV or BC.

CMs were all friendly and pleasant but it really just does not fit our style. We'll stay there again if nothing else is available but this really reaffirmed that we are traditional hotel people. VWL/AKV or BC will be at the top of our list every time.

I know OKW has lots of fans on here but after the gross first room and the poor location of the 2nd we were far from wowed.

We love the OKW 1 bedrooms and larger but we also dislike the studios (but we don't stay in studios any more). While some folks need 2 beds in a studio, there are others who prefer having a sofa to sit on for reading, watching TV or relaxing. I am anxious to see what the rehabbed OKW 1 bedrooms will look like. The size of the rooms and balconies is great and having new decor will be fantastic.
