I'm Steve from Northbrook IL, 16 years old, i just got back from my first cruise ever...when i left i didn't think the disney cruise would be fun at all cause it was Disney and i thought little kids would be everywhere.....i was dead wrong....common grounds was awesome and the people i met on the cruise who were my age were so amazing...i will never forget anything or anyone on that cruise...it was the best week of my life...the only problem is the last night when it hits u that u won't probably ever see n e of the new friends that u made again...its the worst feeling in the world....but i guess its a good thing i got so close with people in a week....so if n e one else came back from that cruise write back or something...

Sorry, i had to add more, as the day goes on today i just get sadder which is a good thing my mom says because it means i had a great time on the cruise...i don't know if i'm taking this whole thing too far but the Disney cruise was definitely the most amazing experience of my life...i felt like i learned so much about other people and cultures and so much more about myself as a person, I think everyone should be as lucky as myself to have such an awesome experience such as the one i had... it's going to be hard to get back to my "normal" everyday life but i guess i have to otherwise i won't accomplish very much, maybe there is people who feel like me who r my age... i don't know...if anyone out there just came back from the 3/22 magic cruise please respond to this and let me know how it went for u....thanks

Great timing Steve, thanks for posting. I'm just sitting here trying to work through my options for a cruise this time next year for myself and 2 DD's, they will be 16 and 13. I was a little concerned spending that much money and the girls not having a good time. I'm glad you had a great time and once again thanks for posting your experiece.

they will have an awesome time, just tell them to get involved right away in the club called "common grounds" and make a lot of friends that way

Thanks for posting this Steve, we are going on our first cruise this August and my DD will be turning 13 just after our return, I found out that she will be able to go to Common Grounds, since she will be turning 13 within a month of our cruise. I am going to let her read your post when she gets home from the community center today. She thought she was going to be bored on the cruise.

Hello Steve,
We just back from the 3/22 Magic as well. I have a DD 15 and she had a lot of fun too. She didn't spend as much time as she would have liked in Common Grounds because she's a little shy in the beginning when it comes to things like that. However, by the end of the week, she wished that she had gone to most of the activities and met more people. She did go to 411 and the ice breaker I do know for sure. Maybe you two can identify each other and put faces to names now. She says you can AIM her at babs51806 if you'd like to talk. Glad you had such a wonderful time.

Glad you had such a great time. People always ask my three teens why they like the Disney cruise so much (we have gone 7 times) and they always reply.....the friends we make.

My son's friend who sailed with us on the 1/4/03 Magic met a girl onboard who he is now taking to the senior prom and my son met a girl onboard that he can visit when he starts college out in Arizona in the fall. My DD15 met friends onboard who she has lunch with at our local mall and would not have met otherwise. It really is a small world and I am glad you are letting teens know that the cruise is just not for little kids. My son is now 18 and my older DD is 19 and they now love going to the adult clubs onboard so their experience changes from cruise to cruise.

Thanks for posting. They still stay in touch with all the people they met from all over the country and world!!!

Hang in there Steve. My teen boys went thru the same depression after cruising also. They loved it both times and met many friends...people they would have liked to continue hanging out with on a regular basis.

They are looking forward to our July cruise but still know that at the end of the week, they will have to say goodbye...they do get email addresses though. What would we do w/out the internet!!

Glad you had a good time...from a teens point of view.

Hey Steve, sorry to say I'm still alittle depressed and we disembarked last August. Keep reading the disboards, it helps!

My DD (16) kept in touch with a friend on the cruise and he went to her Fall Dance which was really cool.

Steve's dad here ! he's back in school (reluctantly) we did rebook (tentatively) for 3/20/04 spring break cruise. had a lot of fun on this one and i (or he) will share some on the boards soon cheers!

Hi Steve,

I was on the 3/22 Magic too and I am having a hard time getting back to reality also. I am 53! This was my husband and my first cruise, and I can't imagine having a better time then we had. We hope to go again in 2005, seems so long away though. I just am thankful, like you, that we had this wonderful opportunity. I am glad you had such a great time!!

Steve, there's a thread already started and active about the 3/20/04 cruise, and several people have mentioned teenagers as part of their party (including one whose teens wanted to e-mail with other teens ahead of time). Check it out; sounds like you already can get started extending your circle of friends for next time! Glad you had such a fabulous experience; it sounds like you know how to make the most of a great opportunity.

Just wanted to let everyone know i'm still sad about being back from the cruise...i'm really starting miss everyone as the days go by....hopefully i'll feel better soon otherwise i'm going to start failing school or something...haha

Steve is off to school again! I must have missed the threads on hairbraiding. My DD9 wanted her hair braided on board but it was completely sold out when we asked on sunday. I did get a res for CC by waiting in line Thurs for 25 minutes before the stated time! That was filled up too probably soon after me as many in the line didn't get appt. Anyway, it hurt like heck while she had it done and for the next day or two. Now she's glad she did it!

went to Palo twice, brunch & dinner! brunch was good but seemed to be limited in offerings esp. for my DW who doesn't eat all the delacacies. dinner was absolutely wonderful. i had the best salmon i've had to date(& i eat a LOT of salmon!). the only controversy was the tpping situation. it seemed quite confusing. the slip they hand you gave the per person charges of 5-10/person. then there is a line foe "additional gratuity". the waiters give the spiel about how tips are not included. we did give extra tips as these waiters were great. my mom called guest services several times and was always told that the 5-10/pp fees were to cover the tip issues and the wait staff was wrong! Disney ought to clear up the controversy and put a Palo tip policy in the daily activity sheets.

the oscars were broadcast on our cruise (sort of). they tried for over 3 hours to locate the feed on the sattelite and finally succeeded for the last half hour! my DW enjoyed the trivia games and thought that was it until we came back from dinner on thurs. and foud this big box with a printed card with her name on it for being one of several people to pick the most oscar winners correctly! her mousecar statue is now proudly placed in the wall unit! It makes up for not winning the free cruise!! (see the "who wants to be...thread) (almost!!):jester:

now the big debate: do we actually TAKE the same exact eastern cruise during spring break (3/20/04) that we booked or jump ship to RCCL etc.??
