Just Got An Interesting Letter From The CR!

Over on wdwmagic.com they're saying that the 12th floor is half open, the south wing is totally closed, and nobody knows for sure about DVC. As far as the concierge level, I'm not sure, but it seems that the rooms on the MK view side are still occupied by guests at this time on the 12th floor. Also, they said that the room rates will increase by $80 in 2006.

So, how concerned should I be? We are staying Tower Club in 2 weeks. I haven't heard anything from IPO regarding the 12th floor being closed.

And what does this mean for the 14th floor?
are those rooms done? Would they have 12th floor guests staying in new rooms when the 14th isn't done?

I know, it does sound kind of strange. But it may turn out great because I spoke to a CM who told me that the 10th floor will most likely be remodeled by the time we are there. And what I'm thinking is, whenever the 10th floor is officially turned into the "Atrium Club" it will be all renovated. Maybe it's even done now! I hope! I hope! I hope!

I mean, why would they open a new concierge floor if it hadn't been made over?

I highly doubt that the 10th Floor is done. The Bay Lake side of the 10th Floor was closed last week. With the MK side still open.

They must of just closed the South Wing this week. b/c the first floor was quite busy with guests Last week.

I just received an email from the IPO. We will be on the 10th floor during our stay in 2 weeks. I was assured ammenities would be the same as they were on the 12th floor- same size room, and there will be a lounge on the 10th floor. Not sure if this means we will be in a renovated room or if we will be on a floor with construction going on

Interesting! Please Let us know if you are in a new room. --- Will you be able to post live from the Resort at all?

The least they can do for moving you down a couple of floors is to give you a nice newly renovated room!

We won't be bringing our laptop. We're at the CR from 7/27-6/6. I'm a little nervous now, because I hadn't heard anything from IPO regarding being moved to the 10th floor until I contacted them

I am betting that they are expanding the former tower club service....I am betting it will include 10th, 11th and 12th floors and they have built the lounge on the 10th floor. They will open the lounge on the 10th floor when they begin to remodel rooms on 12th and then reopen as rooms are completed, but I feel certain the lounge will remain on 10.

It looks like some changes are in the wind at the CR....rate structure for 06 has changed....we will now have to pay a hefty premium for park view rooms in the tower ($40 to 60/night more than the bayview rooms) and I suspect that will be for floors 4 - 9 it looks like 10 and up will be club rooms with an even heftier premium. Guess I better enjoy my tower room this November visit....looks like it will be a really long time before we get back there at the new rates!!

I really think the thing about one of the wings becoming DVC is just a rumor at this time...they haven't even started construction on phase 3 of SSR and they have never constructed 2 DVC resorts at the same time. SSR is going to be huge (larger than OKW) so they will have plenty of points to sell there for some time to come....and since the CR stays at >90% occupancy year round it would make no sense to close 25% of their rooms at a very popular resort

Just back and the south wing was closed. I surely hope sp b/c it was a mess from what you could see from the monorail. Along with the 12th floor. At least Bay lake side.

I just posted the same question on www.wdwmagic.com and someone answered me back that one wing will be renovated and stay regular rooms, while the other is being renovated into DVC. They also said that Chef Mickey's will take over the space now occupied by Concourse Steakhouse and Outer Rim Bar, and those will be relocated to where food and fun is now...also, the driver was a girl.

I can't imagine that they would move Concourse Steakhouse and Outer Rim to the Food and Fun Center area. I hope it's not true!

Yeah, the ground floor wouldn't be a very scenic place for drinks or dinner! I'm glad we stayed at the CR this past April. If the rates are going up that much, we may be getting priced out too!
