Just got a call from IC!!

Not sure whats' going on, but we have had a request in for any 1 or 2 for any special for 2007,2008 or 2009 for a year and a half and we've heard nothing. I recieved my IC postcard a couple of weeks after I faxed it.

Something is not making any sense here??? Thank fgoodness I got my Cat 3 for the Med by calling in, otherwise my faith in the system is not so good right now. I guess we'll wait and see.....

ITA. Nothing makes sense. That's what's so frustrating. I can accept an answer if I can follow a logical path to it.

The supervisor I talked with this morning told me "we are clearing the wait list" and in the next breath said, "we will call you on the 31st" (knowing full well I am on that list). She repeated that everyone would be called in one breath while confirming that people were already being called in the next breath. If people are already being told what their sailing will "probably be", then rooms are being set aside for those that are being called (don't you think?) - otherwise, how could CM's know into what sailing to place people?

now accepting all logical explanations...

My only thought is that they have already tenatively made a list by date of all the people on the waiting list, by date of the fax and category. This could be done with an excel spread sheet. Then based on demand, they are calling the people who have the least requested dates to fill the ship on those dates. The last people to be called may be those who are on the most requested dates, starting with cat 1. requests.

Just my thoughts....

Maybe you are the only one that requested that specific cat on that specific date? So they went ahead and booked you into it.:confused3

Here is my theory...Someone in IC didn't really understand that they were to be calling those on the waiting listing to update the list and consolidate for next weeks bookings. The inconsistencies tell me that there is a big miscommunication in IC, maybe between different shift staff and shift supervisors.

It will be interesting to hear if anyone is able to book w/IC over the next couple of days...

Try to hang in there guys, I know it is such a bummer!!:flower3:

Its hard to get much done around here while waiting for a phone call. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :dance3: :dance3:

We sent our fax to IC March 2006. I'm starting to worry that the dates I want are already unavailable. I'm hoping they still call to see if we'll take something close.

Hey IC :yay: :yay: :yay: .....don't forget about me! :thumbsup2

Have you all already faxed IC for 2009 and 2010?
I am thinking I should go ahead and put a request in for 2010...

I'm not on any IC wait list but I wanted to share an email I got back from my assigned TA at DU. I too had gotten the standard form letter reply when I first requested a quote. I sent a follow-up email asking to confirm my request and here's the specific part I thought was interesting:

We are set to go on calling in at the 7 am call in time on the 31st. We have your information ready to go. I will be getting back to you on the 31st once I have secured all reservations with the cruiseline. This will be as quickly as possible and you should have the information that afternoon.

Since he specifically wrote 7am and we all know that its been posted here, on DCL and every other TA agency, that the phone lines open up at 8 am EST, me thinks that the phones will open up an hour early for TA's only to get first dibs. Those that call at 8 might not get the reservations they were hoping for and it likely won't shake out until a couple days later, albet at higher prices. Am I wrong?

well, it depends on what time zone you are in?! 7am in your time zone may mean 8am EST?

No - I'm in Southern Cal just like you, 8am EST translates to 5am PST.

hmmm...is your TA is So Cal too? If so, that could mean they open at 7am and won't start calling until then, which is not so good! ;)

Which brings up another question...what exactly DO TA's that are not in the Eastern time zone do? I mean, a So Cal TA surely won't be on the phone at 5am trying to get reservations with DCL. OR if DCL does have a number where TA's can call at 7am EST, that would make it 4am for a West Coast TA. How does this work?

 I am seriously toying with the idea of sending in a IC fax for the maiden voyage of a future new ship on the West Coast. They will probably hold up my fax and laugh though, yelling "hey guys...look what this person wants!!"

I bet they already have a whole list of those faxes hanging around.

I just hope that there is son reasoning behind what they are doing. If I lose out on a cat 1 to someone who requested it before i did that's how it should be, but it doesn't seem like there is any sense to what is going on.

Only a few more days to wait

Talked to a supervisor last night and was told that if you had a fax request and received a postcard you will be assigned a stateroom and called on 1/31. I tried to question why some people have been called and she said if they were it is a mistake. I don't think what she said is true but didn't want to push further. I wonder if the people who were called have paid a deposit. None of this makes sense.

I'm not sure if what I say will help, or just create more confusion, but here goes!!

I was called yesterday because IC needed some clarification from me. What Cat and what date was I interested in. On my fax I had listed 3 Cat choices (which is what they had instructed me to do :confused3 ): Cat 3, 4 & 5 on the 6/7/2008 Eastern or any Special Itinerary. So my call was "are you still interested in a Cat 3; which sailing?" I then told her I had a Dec 2007 booking which I would be transferring - she said she could "look up" the res #, but I had it in front of me so I gave it to her. (so, yes, they have a deposit; but, no, they didn't seem aware of it!!)

As to when they'll call - I was told "probably Tuesday in your case" (my case????!!!:scared1: ) So stay optimistic and let's see what Monday brings. pixiedust:

Honestly, it sounds like they may just be taking their time coordinating requests and inventory.

If what a PP said is true, there are only 400 IC requests for 12 weeks of sailings. I'd think the repos and suite requests would be the only areas where there are more requests than availability.

I just wish I knew one way or the other because I'm honestly getting fed up with the wait. If we're not going, then I need to know that so I can firm up some other vacation plans we have in the works.

Do you think IC is contacting people based on chronological order of the cruise rather than by when people sent in their faxes?

My TA faxed in a request to IC but it specifically said for a cruise in the latter half of August 2008. I haven't heard anything from my TA, yet.

But we're not interested in the California cruises and the timing of the repo cruises doesn't work for us either so we're going to book a back-to-back Wonder cruise.

So there's one less request for you guys that are looking for a suite.

If I hear anything from IC, I'll let you know......

we know though that people are being called out of order. which stinks (have I said that already?

:yay: Me too! I wanna go! :lmao: but you guys could probably tell from my consistent whining

done! As well as faxed for the next maiden voyage. I am beginning to think I should re-fax with more specific info like "prefer western itinerary on this date" as those faxes seem to be the ones being called.

They told me when I checked that I sent my request in in September....so we will see when they call me....But i am requesting a back to back Mexican Cruise...CAt 6 for 4....Will pay for one and use DVC pts for second...

Superviser has all my info and we have talked back and forth...she was great at taking my info so don't expect for IC to call me untill they are ready to book me!

Cheri, whining? Nah!! :rotfl:

I figure, if I don't get a cat. 1 for a Mexico cruise, I can always use the money for something else that costs the same... like a new Mustang GT. :drive: :car:
