just got back...a few hours ago the staff and mousekeeping was great and helpful.
the trip was good too. a few things they need to do is put up ropes at the bus stop so people can form a single line for the buses the poor people that get there first sometimes dont even get on the first bus there when it is busy. its not fair and most people are selfish and when the bus comes and jump in front of others i even got there first one day did not sit on the benches stood where the bus usually opened the door and people would just jump in front of you. also the food court was in need of more help at peak hours the food was also hit and miss .not as good as the food courts at pop and music where i stayed the last two trips. also the landscapeing was not as well groomed as it did when it was dixie landings just my 2 cents.

i also ment to mention that one morning we were coming off the pooh ride in the mk around 9am and were met by a cm with a hand full off dream passes it was the best surprise ,we felt like stars all day everyone wanted to know what it was and where we got it. the only one we didnt use was the splash mountian one (we were on it twice the day before anyway) we went to the fast pass return line and it went on forever so i went to the front of the line and the cm told me that it was a 45 min wait for fast pass line? that dont sound fast to me when the stand by line was 60 min? she had no answers and seemed mad so we left.i told this to a cm on another line and she said that was a major mess up on the people working the line. she said the sould of held the stand by people back till the line was down?

I know what you mean regarding the buses. Try doing it with kids and strollers. Never again!

i would complain to disney about the buses but i think it would go on deaf ears, they would say they are always trying to improve them but this has been my main problem with them for years,and it gets worse every year.they put in this gps system but talking to one the drivers training another the other morning told me ,there were a lot of bugs in the system and it may be scraped next year. he said the problem is disney needs more buses and more drivers and the driver problem is they dont pay well and there is a big turnover in that job.

Ugh, that's one of my worries with our upcoming October trip. We've been to Pop 3 times and been spoiled by their awesome bus service. We're trying POFQ in Oct for the first time and I'm scared the buses will be horrible. Bus sharing. Multiple stops. No queue for buses, people cutting, etc. I'm scared!

I stayed at Riverside last week and have nothing but praise for the busses. They were quick and efficient. The longest wait was 8 minutes at MGM on Saturday night after "Fantasmic".
We did take the FQ bus on Friday night from MK but my sil asked the driver how far of a walk it was to Riverside and he said get back in, so we all jumped back in ( he didn't realize we were all together), lol. then 2 strangers jumped in also and sil said who r these strangers. it was fun and we got dropped off at Riverside.

sorry , kim they really need a queue i am being honest some people on this site like to sugar coat things and spin the truth. dont get me wrong had a great time but there could have been less stress with the buses. when you get to the bus stop even if there is room on the benches, stand by the curb you will have a better chance of geting on a bus (when the stop is full).
if you sit you are done even if you were the first one there.
the other thing that stinks is once you are on the bus ,the bus makes 3 more stops even if the bus is full. then to top it off you stop at other stops no one can get on and no one gets off that kills at least 15 miutes.the worst park that always is a long wait for the bus was ak. and to me the only thing worth while there is everest.

We met up with the same situation with the bus stop at POFQ on only one trip. It was a large group of people traveling together(family reunion?) and you knew to hold your ground when you saw them coming, because they thought they had a fast pass for the bus and would just push on past the restof us that had been at the stop for 15 minutes! One morning a CM was present and informed them of the procedure, they looked surprised and complied. Glad to hear your positives for the Pop bus situation, since we're headed there in few weeks!

I would think October and July would be totally opposites and you cannot compare the 2. I always thought October was a slow period for WDW while July was a very busy time (though not as bad as i thought it would be) so October would be no problems.
Maybe I just had a lucky 3 days while at POR who does share the FQ bus.
Anyway have a great trip when you go and don't worry too much about it your at Disney World.

We leave Wed. for a weeks stay at POFQ. Our dd's 9 & 11 don't know about the trip yet, but the other day I was asking them where they would want to stay if we go next year. The 11 yo was vey emphatic about staying at the monorail resorts, so we wouldn't have to ride the busses as much.

Another ? Do they sell actual Mardi Gras souvenirs there? I am a French teacher and we always do a big party in school. I'm always on the lookout for authentic materials to display in my room.

I never thought about it before, but queing for the bus might not be a bad idea at POR and POFQ. Personally, I wouldn't want to have to stand that long in a line(bad knees) but I know I have sat and waited for 15 or 20 minutes for a bus to come and then be astounded at the people that have just arrived and are pushing and shoving to get on the bus. Ridiculous.
I was raised better than that. Perhaps one of those little number dispencers where you take a number and wait your turn. Probably just cause litter and more rude people, but all guests numbered 15 through 25 please board now....We have always got on a bus, and have never totally been unsatisfied Have just always wished every resort had their own bus service.
But still, I am back at POR in

It had 3 wheelchairs on it. In the mornings there is a CM monitoring the situation and calls for buses, when we stayed there. Our problem with the bus system wasn't at POFQ, but rather DTD Westside. We waited 45 min for a bus. At one point there wasn't a bus for any resort for over 20 min. With my back problems standing on cement for that long was torture. When the bus finally showed up, I was sure we weren't going to have a chance to obtain a seat since there were 3 people with wheelchairs waiting. It was the one time that they did not get preferred treatment. None of them were boarded. There was such a huge crowd at that point is my guess is why they didn't get boarded. There was no one to monitor the situation, so no one realized that there were that many people waiting for a bus. My guess is that Marketplace was closing and the buses were filling up there, so they weren't stopping at Westside.

I have a question. Why does the whole bus system at POR and POFQ seem to be so bad? Are the people staying there just exceptionally rude in general? I don't understand why everyone would cut in front of others? I have stayed at the values and liked the whole line thing, but it is so hot standing out in the sun. We stayed at the Beach Club last year and there was no line and no problems. They even shared with like three other resorts. Is it the crowds that push people to cut? I am confused on why the same system works at the Beach Club but not the Port Orleans Resorts?

When we stayed at the BC the bus situation stunk!! It was far better at PO and POFQ. There weren't lines at the BC because everyone gave up and either rented a car or took a cab. By the time we stopped at all of the other sharing resorts, the trips took twice as long. I was shocked since I thought Deluxe resorts would have Deluxe transportation and that is definitely NOT what we found.

We have stayed at CSR twice during holiday weeks and not had a problem with bus lines at the resort. There are no que lines there either. We normally did not try and get on at the main stop though especially in the mornings.

This is our 3rd year in a row to go in Sept. and 1st year we were at POR and 2nd year FQ and will be at FQ again. I think it depends on the time of year you go b/c we have never had problems getting on a bus at the resorts and we were there 8 days straight both years. People do cut in line but everyone could always still get on. The only bus problem we have had was one late afternoon it took almost 1 hour to get a bus for MK then all of the sudden 3 showed up at one time. I think there just had to be a mix up somewhere but it didn't cause any delay for us as we were going to ride some rides before dinner at O'hana and we still had time to do so. I'm sure the buses are a problem in the summer but again if we had those type problems in Sept. we would not be going back there for the 3rd year in a row. Cannot compare with other resorts or times of year but we have been pleased and other than that 1 time for Mk we have never waited more than about 5-10minutes for a bus and usually less than that.

i think when you are waiting 20 min for a bus and the line builds or non line as it is, and you know if you dont get on the bus you will have to wait another 20 min you get a little crazy and being polite gets lost in the moment.
that being said i dont see what the big deal is in making a queue line? and as far as oct being less busy than july true but disney knows that and should run more buses to make up for since the rate you pay in july is probably the same if not more than in oct.

I have been so frightened off about the Disney bus system that we just rent a car both on the last 2 trips and our upcoming October one. The investment is minimal compared to the total cost of our trip and we then have the luxury of coming and going when we want...no line ups...no pushing and shoving...and lastly no bad experience to put a damper on our fabulous vacations.

We were at POFQ over President's weekend. The buses worked great for us. We only went to the POR stops on one morning of our stay. It was nice being the first stop on the way back from the parks.

We will be there again during Christmas. We'll see how it goes.

We had the same problem with the busses at DTD when we stayed at CBR. We waited forever for a bus and were the only ones at the stop and then when the bus came, a million drunks came rushing the bus and shoved my kids out of the way. One was shoved down under the wheels of the bus and the other was being smashed between the crowd and the bus. Another gentleman tried to hold the crowd off but he was overcome. The bus driver stood there the whole time watching and saying nothing. A group of CMs were at the end of the row of stops and did nothing. My kids were crying (esp the one who found herself under the wheels of a bus) and bruised/scraped up. I finall yelled at the bus driver that my kid was shoved under the bus so he wouldn't take off and kill her!

I contacted Disney Transportation immediately and reported the situation. I think you should write them and report your frustration as well. They can't fix what's broken if they don't know it's broken, even if it seems like common sense.

Glad you enjoyed the rest of your trip though!
