We are in the early planning stage for a trip to WDW in June 07. There will be 7 of us. My brother's family (8 yr old), it will be their first time. My family (14 yr old) who visited 2 yrs ago and our mother who is diabetic and will be celebrating her 75th birthday while in Disney. She will need a wheelchair for all of the walking. Any advice for this diverse group is appreciated. Which Disney resort is most convenient for someone using a wheelchair? Anything that we could plan for my mom's 75th birthday? Advice on renting wheelchairs, etc. Thanks

:welcome: To DISBOARDS!

I can't help you on the wheelchair issue but for her birthday a celebration Cruise. She'll love it!

For a resort, you may want to try to stay at the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary, or the Polynesian. That way, you be able to wheel your mom right on the monorail, to get to MK and Epcot. I think that'll be easier than waiting for a handicapped bus for every park. :)

Hope you all have a great trip! :)

For information about renting wheelchairs or ECVs (electric scooters), follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES Board and then look for the disABILITES FAQs thread near the top of the board.

If you are planning to go most to MK, I agree that you would find it easiest staying at one of the MK resorts that are on the monorail.
If you are planning on visiting Epcot or MGM more, then I would choose one of the Epcot resorts. There is a walkway that connects the hotels to Epcot and MGM or you cand take the boats there.
