I'm going in this morning and asking another lady there if she'll work it for me.
Wish me luck.I'll probably cry if she say's 'no'...

Crossing fingers . . . . (but if you do have to work, I'll be here too)

Hi Glenda Thanks.I did ask her and she said she would since she is going to be there from 7am till noon anyway.I was sooo happy she said yes.I'm going to show her my appreciation with a thank you card and a small gift.
Sorry I won't be there with you too this year.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Debbie

YAY!!!! I'm glad you got it!!!! :thumbsup2 Have fun for me too!

Thanks to all of you who keep the world moving forward on those holidays when lots of us are not working. We need you and we appreciate you!

My dh for the first time in 8 yrs is working Christmas Eve (he took a p/t job for the holidays )...No biggie to us though (he worked retail for 15 yrs. prior to this job, so we've dealt with it before.) And honestly , you should count your blessings,...My dad just got laid off on Friday...so he doesn't even have a job now.

I can understand those in the medical field having to work. Sadly, those of you really need to be available although I would think those making the hours could be a little considerate of having you schedule for the Eve, the Day and two holiday's in a row like that.

As for the rest of the would that doesn't close their business, I really personally try not to use them the rest of the year. Chase Bank in NYC was open last New Years Day, I personally told the manager that I thought that was a disgrace and a slap in the face to their employees and I was glad I did not work for them. As a customer, I would be watching this trend and taking my business elsewhere if I saw it continuing.

I must be the only person who enjoys working on Christmas. As a nonChristian, it's kind of a boring day. Nothing's open. Everyone's busy, etc. On the other hand, at work, we have a gift exchange, really nice brunch, and 'Santa' comes to distribute gifts! I never really got to 'celebrate' the holiday before I got this job and I really enjoy it!

You are SOOOOO right! This is what keeps me going when I'm sad about going to work when everyone is sleep, or enjoying the Holiday - at least I have a job. So sorry about your Dad, will say a prayer for him.

I think it's HUGE that you're taking a stand like this. We live in a world where everything is available to us 24/7, but are unaware of the sacrifice REAL people - not computers - are making for this to happen.

Hey Glendamax, I'll be there with ya. Have to work 7am to 7:30 pm on Christmas day. We'll be doing a lunch meat tray for dinner at 8pm on Christmas day. (My kids think this is a real treat!!)
