Finally got my DD's school calendar for this coming year, including testing dates. Since she will be a HS sophomore this year, she gets the week off during standardized testing. Problem is, the week is President's Day week. So, how bad is it?

I checked a couple of NJ school district calendars, and it seems that they don't have that week off, just a long weekend. Are there a lot of schools off that week? It is Magic season for points, so I expect it won't be empty at the parks.

And we're within the 7 month window, rats. I need to call first thing tomorrow! I'm thinking we may just not get there until Monday, and then stay through the next weekend.

Any insights? Thanks!

If I am thinking correctly that is Mardi Gras(feb 20th) week as well. When they both hit together we usually skip due to crowds, but might chance it this year.

I didn't think you could make reservations until 7 months prior to you check out date? If that is the case it is a few weeks early to make reservations. If I am wrong someone correct me so I can take care of this tomorrow!

If you like crowds go. President week is crowded.

We will be going Presidents' Week. It will be busy (many NY schools are on vacation that week), but with a little planning you can still have a great time. Parks in morning...rest at the resort in the afternoon....Shows in the evening...maybe a little downtown disney...Hey....I am ready to go now!!!

Public and Private schools on LI, NY are also closed. It is crowded, but not as bad as over the summer. The one redeeming quality is that the weather is usually nice so waiting on lines doesn't seem as long as it is in the heat.

We were there last President's week. The weekend before Presidents day was crowded and President's Day was unbearable. It is also the day after the Daytona 500 which drew in alot of people. However as the week went on we found the crowds to very manageable. By the following weekend there were very short waits on most attractions except for the most popular. Overall towards the end of the week the crowds were much lighter than we've experienced during the spring break season when we usually go.

MA schools are out that week as are I think VT and as prvious posters have mentioned parts of NY and NJ.

Northerners trying to escape the winter :thumbsup2
