Just for fun- what's the best thing you've ever cooked?

Nothing! I can't cook.

I try, but it always comes out just wrong.

I do make good cheesecake, though, but you can't have that for dinner. Well, not every night.

My DH would say that everything I cook is the best meal ever(I have a great DH when it comes to food compliments:love:) but I would probably say my Christmas turkey and pretty much the whole spread is the best meal I have made. I am always trying new recipes or just expanding on the ones I already have. Christmas dinner gets bigger and more extravagant every year!

As for the best thing I have ever baked, that would be my homemade carrot cake with my cream cheese icing. I make this and there isn't a crumb left in sight. DSis is already asking for it for her Bday.

I'm more of a "baker"... I make a mean peach cobbler! :)

Oooo thats a tough one. My boyfriend would say everything. He wants me to go to culinary school. His brother wants to employ me as his personal chef!

I make a pretty mean chicken parm.

Baking, probably my cookies. They eat those in a matter of minutes.

Cooking/Baking is pretty much one of the few things in life I can do exceptionally well.

I'd have to say meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It's one of our favorite meals! I always try to make enough to have meatloaf sandwiches after but my DH & DS's tend to eat it all no matter what! Maybe next time I'll make two ... :rotfl:

I do a mean baked macaroni and cheese. It's not complicated, exactly, but it always comes out perfect. I could eat a pan in one sitting-- as could my best friend from college. When she comes to visit, it's always the meal she requests.

I don't know if this is the best thing, but I was certainly singing my own praises this afternoon! I made homemade pizza crust, and slathered it with my own homemade pesto (made with basil from my garden). I sliced tomatoes (still warm from the sun) that I just picked, and added slices of fresh mozzarella, goat cheese, thinly sliced onion, salt and pepper. Then I topped off the whole thing with a tiny drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and popped it onto the grill for a few minutes. I cannot describe to you how delicious and fresh and summery it was. The flavor combinations... it was heavenly. Thank goodness I have some extra in the fridge because my entire mouth just filled with water as I typed this out!

I don't think its the best thing I've ever cooked BUT my dfi and all my roommates loved when I made baked glazed ham with homemade au gratin scalloped potatoes (Im a bitheavy handed on the sharped cheddar maybe thats why), corn on the cob and homemade tiramisu (so time consuming).

Im a minimalist I think the best thing I've ever cooked is a ham and cheese omlette but whatever lol

DH loves my black bean and corn salsa, red pepper pasta, and focaccia bread. I can bake really good bread. Oh, and I have a great apple pie recipe. It's just that baking a pie is so time consuming.

That sounds like my kind of food!!! :worship:

I make awesome roast beef and mashed potatoes if I do say so myself. :lmao:

We really need the recipes to the food everyone's posting!

My family loves my pumpkin rolls and muffins

White chocolate chunk macadamia nut cheesecake. It's a pain to make, but it is killer!

My other new favorite is a summer salad of melon, feta cheese and shrimp with balsamic glaze.

I make this red snapper with rum and macadamia sauce that I have been told is better than any fish they have had whenever I serve it. I have not made it in a while and now I am craving it.

My Dson-in-law would say my Cinnamon Bread with Honey Butter..

My DD would say my baked macaroni and cheese..

My DGD would say anything I make..

Friends & family would say my Christmas cookies and all of my assorted muffins..

"I" would say the almost exact replica of my grandmother's bread pudding I made up here in April or so.. (I say "almost" because it still isn't exactly the same and she took the recipe to the grave with her..) It was so good, I ate the huge, big bowl of it all by myself!!

Most everyone likes my cooking and baking, so it's really hard to narrow it down.. Plus I'm always trying to new recipes out on everyone so then they're in "love" with that - until I make something else - or a different version..LOL..

Does yours use egg? I actually hate the baked mac & cheeses that use egg and want to find one that does not.

I would have to say my Thanksgiving spread. Turkey, 2 types of stuffing, oyster dressing, green bean casserole, corn fritter casserole, rolls, pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll, cranberry sauce, and a random dessert (changes year to year).

I do have to brag... I get asked weekly from friends and family when I will open my own restaurant.

This is what DH says about my cooking as well. When asked he couldn't narrow it down to just one thing.

But of my stand-by's these are probably the best:
-lasagna
-Bloody Mary Salmon with couscous
-Cinnamon Buns
-Maple Glazed turkey with Herbed Cracker dressing that I got off the Epicurious website 12 years ago (they won't let me make anything else for Thanksgiving)

The one thing I can't make is pie crust, I usually just make a short crust if I make pie.
