Sammie, I know an allergic reaction could happen anywhere. I keep my epi pen, benedryl, and medic alert tag with me at all times. ;-). Better to be overprepared and not need it than underprepared!

Then you will be fine, don't worry about it and have a great time.

and i can put your mind at ease regarding universal as well...
we had an incident there in August, and while i hate universal, i thought their medical assistance was very good.

the guys working in first aid at IoA are off duty (AKA moonlighting) fire department paramedics with a LOT of paramedical training and experience.

we were very impressed by their medical knowledge and also by their kindness.

I found these stories interesting.

Both of my daughters are allergic to peanuts and while we have our epi pens with us it's nice knowing that EMTs could get to us quickly. A common worry is when you are in a location without a specific address...in a middle of a big park, how do you tell them where you are? It seems Disney has this covered:

If you have not done so, I would strongly suggest going over to the disABILITIES Forum.

One of the first things is a FAQ. Post #2 there deals with mobility/stamina issues. Post #3 deals with a great deal of specific issues, listed alphabetically. In each of these are not only information but very useful links, as well as links to threads related to the specific need.

It also includes information about other parks and the Cruise line.

To get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs click on the link in my signature.

And also you can get tons of very detailed information about any type of disability, including both physical and mental, as it apples to the theme parks.

I'm not sure I agree with this.

I'd rather be on Main Street at 11:00pm by myself then downtown Newark.

If you are from Newark....please don't write to me. I'm only making a point.

i agree. i only live 20 min from there and its still too close! i drop hubby off at the airport and then im outa there..

Considering how many make a wish kids go there everyday someone around there must know what to do...relax if it isnt a CM it will be a guest
In any given population there will always be a certain number of doctors and RNs present. The RNs (I would hope!) could be counted on for help. I've dealt with hip fractures at rest stops, overturned cars, a heart attack on a plane, pukey kids, bloody noses, you name it. In my younger days, I was an ortho nurse, now I work in pharma research, but I still know enough to deal with your basic emergency. Most people want to help, I think, and want things to be ok for others. I just hate seeing anyone having any kind of difficulty on vacation, even kid meltdowns. People will help. :cutie:
