Ive been checking for months for air fare for our Jan trip I already booked going got it for 109PP and I was surprised I had enough points so mine was "free"

but coming home was 159$

this was a tue to tue trip jan 29 to feb 5

so for fun I checked and there was feb 5 open at BLT where were staying that was the only day opened --I only had to borrow 6 points from next year

and coming home now is only 109PP don't know what would make a tue so much more expensive
so now were going jan 29 to feb 6

also is there a limited on how many years you can bank points--is it only one year--say in 3 years we want to bring the whole family could we bank points for 3 years and then use them at that time

You can bank points only once into the next use year. Say you bank 2018 points into 2019 UY. Then during your 2019 UY if you want to make that big trip, you borrow from your 2020 UY. This way you have the points from 3 UY (2018/2019/2020) to use at once.

The banking/borrowing is something that you should read up on so that you make sure you are banking the correct points and planning your trips accordingly so that you do have the points in your account for your travel year.

We just did this where we took an extended family trip in April of 2018. We have a Feb UY so we banked all our Feb 2017 points into 2018, then when it came time to book we needed to borrow a portion of our 2019 points.

It helps to write it down on paper to visually see what points are going where and what you needed for your trip. Davids DVC rental has a great calculator so that you can put in your planned travel dates (at least for 2019) to get an estimate of the points cost. The only variable are those floating holidays like easter which can cause an adjustment in the points cost.

So you can not bank 3 years of points, you can only bank one year of points and borrow ahead one year. Once those points are banked and borrowed then become part of that UY
