Hopefully they read all the replies to see we are not all little red hens.

If they were more diligent in wiping down tables and chairs with sanitizer. and made Purrell available to their cashiers, all food distributors, had extra cleaning and sanitizing in the bathrooms to clean up after everyone who is not wiping down the seat or floor when they vomit or what have you, they could definetly curb the amount of cross contamination. Also, if they would sanitize the bedspreads and be a bit more diligent in the cleaning of rooms, etc. Wipe down railings and such this all would help.
I'm not trying to overreact.

But guess what? Not one of the 7 of us got sick either. Maybe after our yearly trips to see Mickey we have become immune too.
mysparky said:There was only one thing that kind of grossed me out when we were there and I thought to myself "ya know, that just seems pretty unsanitary". We ate lunch at the Columbia Harbor House (MK) and a CM was wiping down all of the previous used tables. Rather than apply a sanitizing spray and then a cloth, she was simply using the same old lukewarm cloth to wipe down table after table. Seemed pretty gross to me and a surefire way to transfer all things gross (haven't we all see the shows on "48 hours" about filthy wash rags?). What did I do? Took out 3 of my sanitizing wipes and wiped down our table. Probably not the best alternative, but it seemed better than nothing.
Yep. Seen this over and over again at Columbia Harbour House, and yet I keep eating there. We bring the Chlorox wipes and wipe down our own table and high chair. That Starboard sandwich and cup of clam chowder keep beckoning me back.3daughters said:My very last post on this subject. And, one word about me. I am sooooo not a confrontational person and never thought I'd be so attacked on this board, which I really find disheartening. I never intended this to be a heated thread!
If you want to fight over the symantics of my original post then so be it, my apologies.
The point is there was according to my DH's follow co-workers and extraordinary amount of sickness that they witnessed and many had caught. When I said in my post "all that went to the park" I was asked if it were those not at the park or those that did, my answer meant those that went, not those that remained at the conference, I didn't mean to imply that every one that went to the park got sick, but according to the "reports" many did, symantics again, my apologies.
If they were embellishing, my apologies, but this is what he heard from grown educated people that he well respects. The reason my DH heard all this was because he was in a meeting with almost the entire group of those that just returned. (the returned on Friday) Now DH said he sat there listening to these horror stories without asking questions and sitting in panic since we are set to go in January. In fact, he said once the meeting started he didn't hear much about the actual conference because his head was buzzing from "puke" stories.
My point once again, that some have reiterated. There has been a bug going around and yes letting Disney know is a good thing, just like someone who mentioned having their room cleaned because their child had the chicken pox, if they didn't tell anyone no one would have ever known. Tell that to the pregnant women who comes in next (chicken pox can cause birth defects if the mother gets it while she's pregnant). Point made people, I hope so.
As I also mentioned before. Email if you WISH to DON"T if you DON'T want to I wasn't forcing anyone!!!
If everyone were less critical and thought about the idea of getting sick on a vacation you've been waiting for, for possibly months, with savings you saved for, for possibly years, you would see the VALUE in the post.
This was and still is not intended to make any of you irate! It was just to be informative and to understand that actions make change. Knowledge is power, ignorance is not always bliss. Letting Disney know before it gets worse or what have you was the point. Yes, I still firmly believe they could do better as someone posted regarding the difference between their cruise experience and the park. Putting Purrell at a food station or cleaning the rooms a bit better than usual will NOT hurt anyone and will not put Disney over the edge with their budget.
So please let's all put this to bed. Wash your hands if you want, don't if you don't, send and email if you want, don't if you don't, but please stop fighting over this subject, it's really getting quite ridiculous!
jarrdisney said:Here's some choice words and phrases that got you in trouble.
"overtaking the park"
"out of control"
"eradicate the problem"
shut down"
"this can go on for months and months"
"epidemic proportions"
Agreed!!
I just still dont understand why shy e mailed Disney to begin with.
WAY overreation to a simple bug that hits everywhere. Sometimes people just need more to do. Im not trying to be mean BUT this was ridiculous to have all this worry. We cant live in a bubble.
)I don't see that it is Disney's responsibility to stop this virus. You could well have brought it from home. How do they control that. It is your responsibility to take steps to avoid getting the virus. Good hand washing with soap and water and plain old friction gets rid of more germs than any hand sanitizer can. Not going out when you are sick and exposing other people. It is not airborne but a contact born disease so take your own precautions.3daughters said:It is their responsibility to take extra steps! This is company that grosses t billions every year with their top execs earning millions and then receiving many millions more in bonuses every year. Yes they can afford the extra man hours without a thought. My DH has worked in big business all his life and can tell you there is a ton of extra money in this corporation, do they always want to spend it, no, but they absolutely can afford to and have contingency accounts that are quite significant. His CEO that is not in a super major corporation like Disney made an 11 million dollar bonus last year. In working in a hospital I can tell you there are many steps that can be taken. It's desire and effort!
