Completely new to this Universal thing. We are thinking about a Disney vacation for next May. But my kids have said that they would like to check out some of universal. Mostly Harry Potter and minions. They don't like super heroes and are not huge thrill ride kids. We are thinking of arriving to MCO on Sat morning and hopefully spending Sat afternoon and the most of Sunday (including early entry and staying at a universal hotel to get express pass). Would this be ok to hit the two HP areas and a couple of other rides?

Why stay at Universal if your vacation will be mostly spent at Disney? And you don't have to stay at a Universal hotel to get Express Passes.

certainly, other than Memorial Day weekend, crowds shoud be more than manageable. Try to arrive early enough on Saturday to make it a full day.

kids change, by next year they may be ready to check out more attractions. Make sure to carve out some time to enjoy the pool area at the resort.

lots of good planning info here, dig around. Split trips aren't as daunting as some think. Sounds like you have a good start.

I think staying onsite while at Universal is a wonderful idea. Using early admission is smart since you aren't staying for a lot of days. I always find that immersing oneself at the park involves staying onsite.

You should be able to get a ton done. The good thing with express is that the kids can ride what they like over and over. Take a good look at the website since there are some attractions and playgrounds that you might dismiss and shouldn't.

Each year the first 3 Friday's, studio park closes early for special event of grad adventure

Saturday may or may it be busy
Some wait until Saturday to start their vacation at UO since the early closing on Fridays

Like me ::yes:: :wave2:

You should be fine with the onsite express pass and early entry though. I do recommend staying onsite since you will be going on the weekend. Do know that you get express pass for the full day that you check in and the full day check out. So, say you only stayed onsite for Saturday night you would be able to check in at 6AM, leave your bags with bell services, and still make early entry and have a full day of Express Pass that day. Same for check out day- you can check out and leave your bags with bell services throughout the day and have a full day of express pass until the parks close. I always factor in my check-in day into park time. I don't ever do check-out because I'm always driving home right after and I would hate to be tired while driving down 175:moped:However, if you're going to be moving to disney that day it would definitely be an option!

It can be cheaper to get an onsite room and Unlimited EP for 2 days than buying it in the parks for each day. That's why we always recommend checking the math.

A one night stay will give you 2 days of EP.

Alli76............sounds like a great idea what you have planned.........with Unlimited EP you should get everything done you want to..........

As damo suggested check the website and see everything there is in both parks........
