Just discovered ShopSafe with MBNA credit cards...

I have done a lot of paid trials so I was looking into prepaid cards, etc. I was playing to see if my credit card I use for all offers had anything that would give a virtual number for shopping online. I use an MBNA (now BofA) credit card and they do have a feature called ShopSafe. It generates a one-time number and expiration date for each online transaction you make. It also gives you the option to say that the number is valid and can be used for so many months. So, I'm going to use it and just say its good for a month...hopefully you can do .5 months so maybe these companies won't be able to keep charging even if they want to. Hopefully it works like I think!

It actually is really nice so far. The lowest amount of time it will let you put in is 2 months, but you can limit the charges to whatever you want. I did Blockbuster and put in the limit as $15 ($9.99 plus I knew there would be tax), well what do you know they emailed me saying there must be a problem with my credit card. I looked online and saw that there was a $9.99 pending charge and also one for $10.77. Since that went over the $15 limit I guess my card must have rejected it. So, I just went online and cancelled since I already had credit. Seems like it works!!
