Hanname My DIS Friends!
I was just watching TV with my daughter, and in the corner of the screen was an ad that said "Go to channel 650 for Disney Vacations" (or something like that, forgot the exact words). 650? I never got that channel before..... Disney Vacations????? QUICK QUICK TURN TO CHANNEL 650!!
Well there it was, what a bonus! I live on Long Island in Nassau County and have IO digital cable. I don't know if this channel is all across the USA but it is very cool IMHO. It includes a menu with 4 choices:
1. "Highlights"--Current highlights of stuff going on at WDW (2 minutes long)
2. "Inside"--Latest attractions (5 minutes long)
3. "Affordable Vacations"--How to get tickets, reserve rooms, etc. (5 minutes)
4. "Walt Disney World Tour"--A really fun (imho) tour with 4 different people talking about WDW from different perspectives--A "thrill ride" guy--who had really messy hair, (I guess he was supposed to appeal to the teenagers), A "Mom" type who accentuated the kid friendly stuff, A "recreation" guy who talked about that and a woman who was the main host and kept things flowing. (50 minutes long)
BTW if you have digital cable you can even fast forward, pause and rewind (using your cable remote), all the stuff in 1-4 above. I looked through it all quickly (was so excited I had to run up and post this to share with everyone), didn't see much DVC but saw the sign with the logo and all of the resorts. I'll have to go back and see if there's any more details if I watch it more slowly, but I don't think so.
I got a real kick out of it, it's soooo much fun to have a channel similar to the ones at the Resort right there on my home TV. BTW that annoying woman you see on the tv when you're at WDW--sorry if this offends anyone but I find her really annoying--isn't involved in this one (thankfully, LOL). It's not the same as any of the planning kits I have seen. Plus the "highlights" and the "inside sections" are supposed to change regularly, so it will be great to check for updates periodically and to get a good WDW fix.
I never knew I had this channel, I believe it is a pretty recent addition. So if anyone out there has digital cable check it out, you might have it too. And everyone who lives in Nassau County on Long Island and has IO just turn to channel 650. Maybe most of you already knew about this, but I sure didn't and I just had to share!
