Are the sitdown restaurants open to you just having dessert? I was thinking of doing this at Coral Reef so the kids could see the fish tank, or somewhere at the Poly so we could take a look around the resort. Any other places that you would recommend? I'm assuming I would have to do this fairly late in the evening. We do have a PS for the Ice Cream social and a couple of other meals, but I would hate to make a PS for dessert only.

Dessert are great at every WDW resturant. Kona Cafe has some wonderful ones, Brown derby, I think that all the ones at GF have good ones. check out allearsnet.com for menus

Three of us walked into the Coral Reef at about 3:00PM. We couldn’t get ressie’s for lunch so we decided to try for desert. No problem…. got a seat at the tank…. There was all of one other table taken! !. Well this was in September so I don’t know about the busy season.

We have had dessert at 50's Prime Time and Sci Fi. You can even order from the bar in 50's Prime Time.

I don't think they'll even take a PS for just desert. I remember reading here on the DIS about someone making a PS at California Grill and showing up, but when they mentioned that they just wanted desert, they wouldn't seat them. But, you can walk up to any restaurant and if it's not peak time or if they're not busy you can do it.

On our last stay at the Poly (at the end of May), my daughter and I decided to make a dessert run to the Kona cafe at 8:30 p.m. on a Thursday nite without PS. We let them know we were looking for dessert; it was not an issue and we were seated immediately. We split a Ko Ko puff, the Kona-Misu and the Caramel Banana Creme Brulee.....all wonderful and with too many calories, carbs, fat grams, etc to think about! Our waitress, Deb, said she was on a diet and was participating vicariously in our fun! No one made us feel out of place for just ordering desserts.....just make sure if you do not have PS you go at a non-peak time.
