We're new to DL (WDW veterans) and we have decided to take our 3 boys to DL. What suites are the best? We need space, but at a low price if possible. We also plan to walk to the parks. What are the options to/from the airport to the hotel? Are there restaurants/grocery stores within walking distance?
Also, is this really possible?? I don't have much time to plan, and I'd hate for the trip to not go well. Its our oldest's bday on the 30th, so we thought this would be such a great present! I need all the help I can get!
TIA!

I'm pretty sure that Hojo's is offering the Entertainment Card rate, very worth your while if you wanted to stay offsite. Also, the resort hotels are offering deep discounted rates for AP holders :)

I haven't stayed there myself (yet), but we are planning on staying at the Residence Inn Maingate for our next trip. It's within walking distance, but you can also hop on ART to get to the parks, and they have a free grocery shopping service for you.

Good luck!

What are the options getting from the airport to the hotel and vice versa? I noticed our return flight leaves at 6:30am - how would we get back to the airport at that hour?

For ground travel info see: "Airport Proximity to DLR and Ground Transportation Information" by 3TinksAndAnEeyore www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2318297

If it was me and I had a 6:30AM flight I would take a taxi to be sure I made it. It is worth the extra cost to be sure to get there on time.

Regarding hotels there are a lot of options. The lowest prices will be the good neighbors. For example, we have four boys and have stayed in the mini-suites at the Best Western Park Place Inn (BWPPI) because they have 3 queen beds, a small fridge and microwave. HoJo's is also an option. You will get lots of opinions on this.

For a list of hotels and their DLR proximity see the links here: "HydroGuy's Hotel Rule" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199862.

Use this link to see the different hotels and restaurants around DLR: http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=33.8092124&lon=-117.9188132&z=19&l=0&m=b

There are lots of small shops around DLR for things like milk and snacks.

Late January is off-season so plan accordingly: "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889

Not to put a damper, but you will miss a lot during your trip. The Rivers of America will be drained which means no Fantasmic, Mark Twain, Pirates Lair on TSI, Columbia sailing ship or Davey Crockett Canoes.
