Now that we are DVC members (since 12/01), we seem to be planning for more vacations - my strategy prior to DVC was to book the dates then find the flight - But now I wonder what others strategies are - do you get the flight then book the dates or do you book your dates then search for a flight? And do you buy AP, PAP,PH,PHP type of passes? Just curious:D

I book my room before I get a flight. First of all, the only sure way to get the times you want is to book 11 months out and most airlines don't have good rates that far in advance, if they allow you to book at all.

We get APs. If you are going to be there for longer than 8 days or so it pays for itself. Plus, I like getting the Mickey Monitor newsletter. :)

We do the same thing. Book the villa and keep checking flights until they look good before we buy. We have a whole 11 months to look! We buy an AP voucher and start using it the day of arrival. We plan our next trip or trips within the 12 month period after that. Instead of renewing, we just purchase another voucher before the prices increase in January so we get a good price on them. We also use the Disney Club card for the APs.

Well I can tell you that DH mentioned this morning that one of the suppliers for his business has a "flyaway vacation" program with Orlando as one of the destinations--he said "why don't we shoot for that since we have APs?" We would be offsite (horrors!!) but why not?? And he would never have mentioned this in the past.
