Just curious ...what are the most obvious changes in the renovated BWV rooms?

Do the changes in the Boardwalk units immediately "hit you" when you walk in? Or are they subtle? Just curious...;)

I would definitely view them as subtle. There were no major structural renovations like walls being moved or anything like that. Everything just looks 'refreshed.'

Thanks for the reply! Do you know if the units got the flat screen tv's and new appliances? I heard new stoves were in order.

We would not call the changes subtle at all - they "hit us" immediately upon walking in. Of course, we stayed in January in an older unit, and the room did not look good. The drawers were broken on the armoire, the couch was stained, the carpet was worn. When we walked into a renovated studio in June, we noticed it immediately. Everything was "fresh" and clean. But the new armoire and tv hit us immediately. I guess everyone's definition is different, but we certainly were impressed. :goodvibes

I would not call it subtle either. You definitely would notice.

How much of the property has been renovated/updated? We are arriving on Oct 17, 1-bedroom standard view with a request for an upper floor. I wondered what the chances are for a updated villa?
Thanks!

All of the units have been removated I believe.

We traveled Nov.09-Dec. 09 and stayed at the BWV's. We had booked a 2 bedroom @ 11 months but slowly the nu,bers chanegd and only myself and 2 young dd's were going to travel. I tried to change the ressie to a 1 bedrrom or studio with no luck.. So we ended up with 7 nights in a 1 bedroom and 2 nights in a 2 bedroom. The 1 bedroom standard had been updated, when we moved to the 2 bedroom. WOW, it so had not been updated. Huge difference walking from one right into the other.

We are presently staying in Rooms 2037 and 2039. These rooms do not look renovated at all. The carpet does not appear to be new, the bathroom tiling does not look new and the furniture certainly does not look new. We have engineering in here for over an hour trying to fix a toilet that would not stop running and eventually overflowed all over the bathroom. More repairs coming tomorrow because some valve in the wall has to be replaced. So I would be very surprised if this is a renovated room. The condition of the room makes me wonder if time is passing BWV by.

We just stayed in 3055 - a studio. Our first time at BWV. Our room looked out in the Village Green. Don't think it was renovated. The back of the bedspread was very worn and pilly. The sink had a chip in it. Didn't mind those things that much, but the room definitely had a musty odor to it. That was the one thing that really hit me about the room.

I was under the impression that ALL rooms had been renovated, but in reading the post from the last 2 individuals I now wonder....:confused3

One of the most noticeable things is the change in the hallway wallpaper. The little white picket fence is gone. I really miss it for some crazy reason.
The paint colors have changed. Flat screen TVs are new and DVD players have been added to the studios.

I stayed in that room many years ago. Did it have a flat screen TV? I believe all the renovated rooms had them installed.

We are staying at BWV in Nov/Dec this year and are REALLY hoping to receive an updated room. We thought it was amazing to get a 1br for 5 nights at 7 months with a split stay and then our wait list came through for our full 7 night stay a couple weeks later.

However then I started reading the 'run down Motel 6' reviews of the state the property had fallen into - and I started to think that maybe we should change to a different property. But then I saw that renovation was in progress at the resort.

Since becoming DVC members we have REALLY wanted to eventually stay at Beach Club and Boardwalk - so we were glad when we got our reservation for BWV - but for the meantime we are hopefully optimistic!

Anyone have very recent BWV experiences?

It's been over a year since some of the rooms were renovated. So it's possible that room was one of the first and it's already wearing. I believe the renovations started in the spring of 2009.

You can tell if it was renovated if it had a flat screen TV, it should look like this (photos from allears):

I hate that bedskirt, I don't think it matches the bedspread.
