Just curious, other than NJ do other states have teacher's conventions?

Jersey Week has become pretty popular at WDW. Schools are closed for the NJ teacher's convention on first Thurs and Fri after Election day each year in November. Are there other states who have similar events that close schools?

We do NOT have that in Michigan,

In different provinces in Canada, schools will have PD (Professional Development) Days or PA Days (can't remember what that stands for). From what I remember, those don't last more than 1 or 2 days in a row. As for holidays, some provinces have March break, and some have Easter break.

Minnesota has ours (Thursday & Friday) the third week of October. Everyone heads to Disney World!

Each year our school district has a 3-day Fall Break at the end of October. (This year it's Wed, 10/27-Fri, 10/29.)

With all these others, I'm just wondering why I've never seen anything other than "Jersey" week, and not "whateverstate" week.

We have it as well. Ours is always the last Thursday and Friday of October. I supose some take off for warmer areas, but it is not like what I hear of Jersey Week either. Perhaps it is because of highschool and Badger football, as well as our beloved Packers that we all don't leave.

I am a college recruiter, so I use the MN and WI teacher convention dates to have students visit campus...I can't leave, too good of an opportunity.
