Would you rather take a 4 day cruise in a Category 3 or a 7 day cruise in a category 4 with 3 kids? (Assuming both were available) Can you tell me about Category 3?

7 day 4 to short......... we had a cat 4 room u will be fine
peter

7 night in any category....hands down.

I've been on a 4 day, never a 7. I've never stayed in a cat 3 OR 4.

And I can say, hands down, go for the 7 day! Rough it in the cat 4! ;)

If you must choose, do the 7 day in the cat 4!!

This year, we are doing back-to-back cruises: first a 4-day, then a 7-day. We will be in a cat 4 on the 4 day, cat 3 on the 7 day.

Can you tell me about Category 3?

The cat 3 suites are very comfortable, and large. I'd guess they're 2 and a half, maybe 3 times the size of the cat 4's. The same is true for the verandahs which are much larger. You also have concierge service at the cat 3 level, which is very nice.

BUT...

We (a family of 4) had a cat 5 for our first 7-day cruise, and it was fine. I would MUCH rather have done that than been on a 4-day in a suite.

We are staying in the cat 4 on the 4-day cruise because we know
we won't spend much time in the stateroom anyway. There is too much to do on the cruises, and the 4-day will be go-go-go! So having the suite on a short cruise isn't that important.

I say go for the 7-day cruise and the cat 4. You'll be glad you did!

Seven day...hands down!! Heck, I would be happy with a cat 6 on a seven day right about now.

Given the 2 options, I don't think anyone here will choose the 4-day. Personally, when I'm booking a cruise vacation, the cruise itinerary is just as important, if not more so, as the cruise cabin/ship/line. I've been to all the DCL stops at least twice (not all with DCL). Bahamas (excl. Castaway Cay) is DEFINITELY my least favorite stop. JMHO.

We've have 3 children, we've done a 4 night in a cat. 4, and a 7 night in a cat. 3. When we go again, we'll do the 7 night/cat. 3 ! The extra room was wonderful !! Especially having the 2nd bathroom with 3 girls!!!!! The veranda was huge, breakfast in our room every morning (even the last morning) was great!! When we were in the cat. 4, we only had 2 girls(one stayed next door w/parents), and I think it was tight. We didn't have much drawer space. Maybe we were Really Spoiled by the cat. 3 !! If you can, make sure you get one mid ship, the pull down bed is in the living room and not in the bed room !
Have a great trip with which ever room you choose !!!

7 night - hands down!!! We cruised a 4 nighter on DCL in 99 and have gone 7 since- we will NEVER cruise 3/4 again. It seems like you unpack just to repack again. We only have 3 in our party but have stayed in cats 11, 10, 9 , 8, and 7. Have enjoyed them ALL! Seriously:o) First, if you kids are older- the chances of everyone being in the cabin at one time except to sleep is rare- if they are small- then you have no problem. My friend has 3 kids (9,5, 2) and always stay in a cat 4 and love it.
A tip that you or DH might want to think about is one of you go to the spa and use their shower to get ready for dinner- it is easier for a man since he has less to take but we did this on our last couple of cruises and it really helps. Also- assign each person a space for their things so you don't have clutter- and use an over the door holder for community things- Regardless what you choose- you will have a great time,

I would go for the seven day over the four day. I have had a CAT 4 twice, and have been pleased both times that i didn't take a shorter cruise in order to afford a cat 3 or higher. For me, as long as i have a verandah that i can enjoy, that is all that matters. That said, i have been in a cat 3 room and if you can afford that for a week that is really special!!!
