What is an average price difference between a category 3 and a category 4??

Thanks so much.

We've cruised 3 times in Nov each time. When I've priced the difference between a 3 and a 4 each time a 3 was about 50% more than a cat 4. I couldn't get myself to justify what would be equal to the amount of 1/2 another cruise to get a bigger room. But after our 2nd cruise in a cat 4 I realized the kids were too big to be jammed in a small room and gave in and booked a cat 3. We loved it and in the end found it worth every additional penny.

Other people choose to get two connecting rooms to get more space and it is a less expensive option. For me that wasn't an option because I prefer to not have my kids sleeping in a separate stateroom. I also felt that the large living space in a cat 3 allowed you to spend more time together as a family. We loved the concierge, the ability to prebook Palo and register the kids with no problems. For us the difference in price made for a very special vacation.

SweetSpot-- how early did you book to get the Cat 3 room? We've booked 2 cruises now -- one 11 months out and another 21 months out-- and Cat. 3s have been all taken!

We have cruised in a Cat 3 twice - both late August. I booked the Cat 3 well in advance both times - about 18 months in advance in order to get the best price and to get one of the 4 mid ship Cat 3.

Both times I checked the price of a Cat 4 at the same time and the Cat 3 was about 50% more.

Yes, you do get a much larger room with 2 bathrooms and several other added benefits but not everybody needs or wants the room and other benefits. Also, there are less expensive ways (2 adjoining cabins) to get the extra space and bathroom if money is the issue. If money is not really an issue, go for the Cat 3.

MamaCrush: We've been really lucky. We always travel NJ week which is usually the first week of Nov. so it is a less popular travel time. We booked our first cat 3 while on board 12 months out and all 4 midship cat 3's were still available. We haven't had a problem yet getting the room we wanted that time of year. I would get on the waiting list for the time you want and call often, especially right before the 90 date for final payment. There's a good chance one will come available.
