Hi!

I just completed my Vow Renewal Planning Session at WDW. It was very exciting!! I just had to share. It is so much fun. I did cake tasting and it was wonderful too. You have to ask for it if they can fit it in.

Bill is my Sales Manager (the most WONDERFUL guy ever). Michelle is my Coordinator (she is FANTASTIC) we had so much in common. Laura is my Floral/Design Coordinator (she is also FANTASTIC) and we also hit it off too.

We have December Vow Renewal with Christmas Theme. Ceremony at Sea Breeze Point and reception at either St. James Room @ Boardwalk or room @ Yacht Club. Welcome Reception is at The Attic with an Illuminations Dessert party to follow at Lower UK.

It was fantastic to go to Franck's and see everything in person. I also got to tour many of the reception sites. There are sooooooooo many things to consider. However, I planned almost everything while I was there because I knew most of what I wanted beforehand. Also, having a Renewal is a little different than wedding ceremony. I chose everything myself (with hubby of course) and didn't have to worry about anyone else's opinion.

If you have questions, please let me know!

Just wondering...why is the vow renewal different?

We are getting legally married at home at the courthouse right before we leave for Disney...and then we will have our Disney wedding...so "technically" our "wedding" is a vow renewal. The only difference I knew of was that I had to provide a copy of my marriage certificate instead of getting one there.

Our Vow Renewal is a celebration of 10 years of marriage and 25 years of friendship. However, if you are already married, Disney considers it a Vow Renewal.

That being said, you won't be able to tell the difference of our ceremony between those marrying with a few exceptions which are mostly our decisions. We are having a Rev.(Rev. Day) officiate. He sent us Vow Renewal suggestions which are very close to "regular" vows. Our difference is that we won't do a unity candle. We felt the one we did at our original ceremony was our "real" unity ceremony. Also, we won't single out parents, loved ones, etc. This ceremony is about US and our time together. However, if you just got married and are doing a ceremony at Disney you can do anything you want to do.

Other differences are I'm walking down aisle by myself, no garter or bouquet toss and other small differences.

Remember this is your ceremony whether you are married or not you control what you do at your event.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Okay...I get it now! :)

Thanks for clarifying! I was thinking there was something different from the Disney perspective (other than the license issue)! LOL!

I wrote our vows, Rev. Kevin provided a huge package for us to help me with that. Rev. Day was not available on our date and time, but I think his package probably wouldn't have been different.

Since it's going to be just us at the wedding, we're not doing a bouquet toss either and I just can't imagine I'd be comfortable with a garter!!! :rotfl:

Anyway, it sounds like your plans are coming along nicely...congratulations!!!

I'm having my first over the phone planning session this friday with Michelle. Was your coordinator Michelle Shumate or someone different? can you tell me what kind of things you went over with her, so I might be better prepared to ask questions this friday? Any info you have about the planning session or about Michelle will be greatly appreciated :) Feel free to PM me if you'd rather. Thank you so much in advance!!!

I'm so glad to see a post about a vow renewal. We're going to do one next september for our 10 year anniversary. It is not on our actual wedding anniversary which is in March (long story) but it is the 15 year anniversary together, which means just as much.
Anyway I really want to go all out for this but, been feeling like such a dork for making a big deal out of it and feeling like maybe it wasn't right making "wedding plans" for a vr. I would love to know what other's are planning for their vow renewal. What type dress, Photos, Ceremony details, etc. And I will happily share mine as I make them.

Thanks,
Crissy
