Building 51. I thought the South Point section was supposedly renovated, but definitely not this one. And boy, does it need it! Dirty grout, stains inside and out in the entire vila. And the porch has got rust spots on the furniture, peeling paint. And DH just came in and told me the TV remote doesn't work. Ironically, when we got here, there was still a message on our phone for the previous guests about their "requested room change for today" Now I can understand why they requested the room change-and Disney just passed the room on to us.
Also, did there used to be pillows on the couch, or am I remembering wrong? It just seems strange to have a couch with no throw pillows, but it may be that way-maybe they're just a temptation for the guests to take home.

Yikes! It just isn't the same when the room hasn't been maintained. Dirty grout has been going on for years.

We did have pillows on the couch at BWV.

Are you on the ground floor?

Yes, that was a BIG relief! But now it's been 2 hours since DH set the ice maker in the refrigerator-no ice!

ask for a room change!

Unfortunately we were told that there was only one other first floor villa available in the entire resort and it’s near the Turtle Pond pool, which she told us is closed. Also, it appears to be very close to the main road. So would it be a “frying pan/Fire” thing? I just hope we get a survey after our stay as we always do. But with our luck, they’ll deliberately skip it this time. But DVC will definitely hear about this!

so there is one villa left but it cant be used? If so I would ask to see it, especially if you have your whole trip still ahead of you.

We had an issue one time at OKW with no other rooms being available and I called DVC while there. Between them and Saratoga Springs we were able to get a room at Saratoga instead. If first floor is a must due to mobility issues, they have elevators there, so more of a selection. You may want to consider switching resorts. SSR staff were excellent and way more accommodating than OKW staff were.

Update: Spoke with a manager at OKW today who seemed very nice. He took all our maintenance concerns as well as blocked off a room in an elevator bldg for moving tomorrow. Tonight maintenance should be addressed and we can decide whether or not to move. Building 64,any experiences there?

We never use the ice maker in the units, the filters, if they exist are never changed. The ice machines down the hall uses commercial filters that are on a replacement schedule.

Our experience was so long ago, I have forgotten it, but I remember we were on the top floor, and it was nice. In OKW I always request first floor or elevator building.

Sounds as if OKW is really in need of a refurb. Glad we will be staying there after it is all done.

Oh, and by the way, as nice as the front desk manager was, we got back tonight and found very little done.

Yes, we took the offer to move, so we’re currently homeless. Ironically maintenance and housekeeping showed up today while we were waiting for Bell Services

We stayed last year and said we won’t go back until the refurb is done. Our room was in pretty bad shape.

I can't disagree. We did move to building 64, and the room (and view) is MUCH better. And as DH pointed out, the doors and remote work. As he said, our remote not working may seen like a little thing, but while you might accept it at a Comfort Inn (which we've stayed at and liked), at a Disney deluxe hotel it seems tacky. Plus we have throw pillows! However, I can definitely see that OKW desperately needs a refurbishment. Looks like buildings 46, 47, and 48 are currently being done. Then we'll return, like you, AFTER the refurbishment.

Glad you moved. We had to move at the poly last year because the air conditioning was broke. Maintenance came in and said thermostat was broke and we’d have to manually turn it on and off. At a place that is $500+?
