Yeah! DH and I went on a tour with my parents hoping to get them to buy, but my dad was soooo not interested. As soon as my dad piped up that he didn't have an interest I saw the wheels start turning in DH's head and we ended up buying 180 points at SSR!!!!! Thank GOD! No more staying off-site! We are very excited and are planning our first trip home with dh's family and staying in a grand villa.

We were talking though after going over to the BC and BW that SSR seemed a little empty as far as decor was concerned. Everywhere that you look inside of BC and BW there is an unlimited amount of art work and other decorations, but at SSR it just seems kind of empty. Another thing that dh noticed was the elevators. SSR looked like it was still being used as a construction elevator and not "coomplete". I know that the resort is still under construction, but I would think that the occupied buildings would have been complete down to the tile in the floor of the elevator.

The other thing is that I hope the food court gets better. The food there is horrible! They also need more choices.

empty - I don't understand.

the BWV and BCV are both inside resorts - places to put art work.

the SSR is most outside - like OKW.

So where besides the lobby would you put the artwork????

or am I not understanding you?

I found SSR to be up class - I have compared to the GF and I stick by that comparison.

give it time - it will be the best that DVC offers.

also remember that alot of the outside building aren't part of DVC - so they have no control of them.

I thought SSR was decorated nicely, but we have not stayed at the other DVC resorts. Maybe the theme is not as strong as VWL or BCV? Being from Saratoga NY - I loved seeing all the artwork that reflected the local area. Many pictures of actual places in Saratoga - so I was quite pleased!

I actually liked the food at Artists Palette. My issue was that I wish there was an expanded menu. But the food we did have there (mostly breakfast & flatbread pizza's) were very good. Maybe they figured most people would go to Downtown Disney for dinner and they would not need a full service restaurant. I would like to see that at the resort in the future. Or that the resort would give DTD more business for it's restaurants.

I liked the elevators - saved us from lugging the bags up a couple flights of stairs. They are well hidden, it's not like you can see them from the front of the buildings?

I think the SSR Lobby could use much more detail when it comes to the decorating. They did a nice job inside AP. Community Hall could use some more details as well. I do think that the theme is not quite as strong as the other resorts. There is enough covered area going to the rooms to add some kind of exterior art...even if it is metal. The rooms themselves are beautiful and don't need anything (except maybe a little more square footage!)

Be sure to check out the tile in the elevators next time you go...it's gorgeous! I wish I would have taken a picture of it. Mosaic squares with some metalic squares if I remember right...intricate.

The resort is still a work in progress. The lobby is not finished. There is to be a large carousel in the center, more art which has been commisioned.

The brass statue in the lawn out front, the Winner's Circle, is a new project that will be a welcome addition.

As to AP, I think a full service set down restaurant would be really nice, but we like AP and the food selections for fast food.

That's what I meant ---- the theming isn't as strong as the other DVC's. When you walk into the lobby it just seems like there is something missing.

Don't get me wrong, we thought that it was a beautiful resort and will be very nice when it's done.

We are happy have our home there.
